The London Gas Museum was a museum in Bromley-by-Bow in east London, England.

It was situated on Twelvetrees Crescent, London E3 3JG, on the eastern side of the River Lea and near to Bromley-by-Bow tube station. The building dates from 1905 when it was part of a gas works and is still known as the London Gas Museum for post. [1] Amongst other exhibits, it held a gas-powered radio, and an assortment of survey maps for gas companies. [2]

Closure

In 1998, the museum started preparing to close, and distributed its collections to various entities. [2] The former contents were merged with the collection in the Leicester Gas Museum. [3]

The building is now occupied by offices. [1]

Bromley by Bow Centre

The Bromley by Bow Centre is a community centre in Bromley-by-Bow, in the East End of London. It was founded by Andrew Mawson in 1984 alongside community members such as Chilean artist Santiago Bell, with the aim of transforming the local community. Over the years, the Centre has grown to encompass a GP surgery where Sam Everington is an enthusiastic advocate of the Centre, church, nursery, children's centre, community facilities and a cafe. It is the site of the UK's first Healthy Living Centre, and around 2,000 people use the Centre each week. In addition to team members such as psychologists, nurses, counsellors, and phlebotomists, the centre also houses artists, stonemasons, gardeners, and stained-glass makers.

St Marys Church, Bromley St Leonards

St Mary's Church, Bow was a Church of England parish church in Bromley St Leonard's in east London. 'Bromley St Leonard's' was split from the parish of Stepney in 1536, reusing the priory church from the recently-dissolved St Leonard's Priory, a Benedictine nunnery. It was destroyed by bombing in World War II and obliterated by the building of the Blackwall Tunnel approach road, dividing the main residential body of the parish from the river front, though its churchyard survives.

East London Science School was built in 1999 as a secondary school in Bromley-by-Bow in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The school opened in September 2013.

The Bromley-by-Bow gasholders are a group of seven cast iron Victorian gasholders in Twelvetrees Crescent, West Ham and named after nearby Bromley-by-Bow in the London Borough of Newham.
