Long Lane Wood

Long Lane Wood is an area of ancient woodland in the suburb of Monks Orchard within the London borough of Croydon. [1] [2] The wood covers an area of 15.07 acres, is criss crossed by paths and is frequented by dog walkers. [3] The wood is mainly made up of English Oak and the occasional European Beech. Bywood Avenue Bird Sanctuary can be found to the rear of the wood, it is small fenced off area set aside for wildlife. The wood was a part of the Great North Wood and is now managed by the London Wildlife Trust as a part of the Great North Wood Project.

Beaulieu Heights

It is located between South Norwood Hill and Auckland Road with Auckland Rise to the north and Tummonds Gardens to the south. There are pedestrian entrances from South Norwood Hill and Auckland Rise, and a pond. The name is pronounced as if spelled "Beulah" like the nearby Beulah Hill, and not like the French word or the town of Beaulieu, Hampshire.

Great North Wood Wood in south London

The Great North Wood was a natural oak woodland that started three miles (4.8 km) south-east of central London and scaled the Norwood Ridge. At its full extent, the wood's boundaries stretched almost as far as Croydon and as far north as Camberwell. It had occasional landownings as large clearings, well-established by the Middle Ages such as the hamlets of Penge and Dulwich.

Sydenham Hill Wood

Sydenham Hill Wood is a ten-hectare wood on the northern slopes of the Norwood Ridge in the London Borough of Southwark. It is designated as a Local Nature Reserve and Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. With the adjacent Dulwich Wood, Sydenham Hill Wood is the largest extant tract of the ancient Great North Wood. The two woods are formed from coppices known as Lapsewood, Old Ambrook Hill Wood and Peckarmans Wood after the relocation of The Crystal Palace in 1854 and the creation of the high level line in 1865.

Old Park Wood

Old Park Wood is a 16.7-hectare (41-acre) Site of Special Scientific Interest in Harefield in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The south-east part is an 8-hectare (20-acre) nature reserve owned and managed by the Hertfordshire and Middlesex Wildlife Trust.

Riddlesdown Common

Riddlesdown Common or Riddlesdown is a 43 hectare area of green space in Kenley, towards the northern end of the North Downs in the London Borough of Croydon. It is owned and maintained by the City of London Corporation, apart from two small areas, one of which is operated by the London Wildlife Trust and the other by Croydon Council. An area of 32 hectares is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest. The name Riddlesdown also applies to the local district of residential housing. A trig point at the site indicates that it is 525 ft (160 m) above sea level.

Littleheath Woods

Littleheath Woods is the collective name for Littleheath Wood, Foxearth Woods, part of Queenhill Shaw and part of Gee Wood in Selsdon in the London Borough of Croydon. It is a Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade I, with an area of 64 acres (26 ha). It is owned by Croydon Council and the Friends of Littleheath Woods assist with the management.

New Cross Gate Cutting

New Cross Gate Cutting or Brockley Nature Reserve is a 4.2 hectare nature reserve in Brockley in the London Borough of Lewisham. It is a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation managed by the London Wildlife Trust. This designated green space runs alongside the East London Line between Brockley and New Cross Gate, on the forest site that once lay on the Kent and Surrey border known as Hatcham Wood. The entrance is on Vesta Road situated between Barriedale in Brockley and Sandbourne Road, Telegraph Hill.

Hutchinsons Bank

Hutchinson's Bank is 21.8 hectare Local Nature Reserve and Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation in New Addington in the London Borough of Croydon. It is owned by Croydon Council and managed by the London Wildlife Trust.

Ten Acre Wood

Ten Acre Wood is a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) in Yeading in the London Borough of Hillingdon, which is owned by Hillingdon Council and managed by the London Wildlife Trust (LWT). It is also part of the Yeading Brook Meadows Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC), which includes two neighbouring LNRs managed by the LWT, Gutteridge Wood and Meadows and Yeading Brook Meadows LNR.

Hertford Heath nature reserve

Hertford Heath nature reserve is a 28 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Hertford Heath in Hertfordshire. It is managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust and the local planning authority is East Hertfordshire District Council.

Long Grove Wood is a 1.5 hectare nature reserve managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust in Seer Green in Buckinghamshire.

Biggin Wood is an area of ancient oak woodland situated within the London Borough of Croydon. The London Wildlife Trust is currently working with Croydon Council and the Friends of Biggin Wood to improve the site for wildlife, as a part of The Great North Wood Project.

Spa Wood

Spa Wood is an area of ancient woodland in the London Borough of Croydon that was once a part of The Great North Wood. In 2017, the London Wildlife Trust began a four-year project based around the Great North Wood, working with Croydon Council and the Friends of Spa Wood to improve the site for wildlife, as a part of The Great North Wood Project. The 15.5 acres (6.3 ha) site, also known as The Lawns, is owned by the Borough of Croydon and includes the woods, a multi-games court and playground.

Convent Wood is a small area of ancient woodland in the London Borough of Croydon. The wood is in the freehold of the Sisters of Our Lady of Fidelity some of the grounds are leased to The Ceadars School]] and The Laurels School. The woods are not accessible to the public except by appointment with the Sisters weekends onlyThe New School use part of the woods as a classroom « Forest School » in the week. The wood was a part of the Great North Wood and is now managed by the London Wildlife Trust as a part of the Great North Wood Project. The wood is home to a range of British wildlife species including English oak, European hornbeam, great spotted woodpecker, European green woodpecker and European holly.

Dollypers Hill

Dollypers Hill is a 12-hectare (30-acre) nature reserve south east of Coulsdon in the London Borough of Croydon. It is managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust.
