The XFL was a professional American football league that played its only season in 2001. The XFL was operated as a joint venture between the World Wrestling Federation and NBC. The XFL was conceived as an outdoor football league that would begin play immediately after the National Football League (NFL) season ended, to take advantage of the perceived lingering public desire to watch football after the NFL and college football seasons conclude. It was promoted as having fewer rules to encourage rougher play than other major leagues, while its telecasts featured sports entertainment elements inspired by professional wrestling, including heat and kayfabe, and suggestively-dressed cheerleaders. Commentary crews also featured WWF commentators joined by sportscasters and veteran football players. Despite the wrestling influence, the games and their outcomes were legitimate and not based on scripted storylines.
The Las Vegas Outlaws were an American football team in the XFL. They played in the Western Division with the Los Angeles Xtreme, San Francisco Demons and Memphis Maniax. They played their home games at Sam Boyd Stadium. On February 3, 2001, The Outlaws hosted the first nationally televised XFL game on NBC against the New York/New Jersey Hitmen.
Kurt Keola Gouveia is an American football coach and former linebacker who played 13 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and one season in the XFL. During his career, he played for the Washington Redskins, the Philadelphia Eagles (1995), and the San Diego Chargers (1996–1998). In 2001, he also played for the Las Vegas Outlaws in the now-defunct XFL.
John Isaac Davis is an American former professional football player who was a guard in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the San Diego Chargers, New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings. Davis played college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks and was named to Arkansas' All-Decade Team for the 1990s.
Antonio Edwards is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Seattle Seahawks, the New York Giants, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Carolina Panthers. He played college football at Valdosta State University and was drafted in eighth round of the 1993 NFL Draft. In 2000, Edwards was the twelfth pick of the XFL draft as a member of the Las Vegas Outlaws. Edwards is currently the defensive line coach of the Collegiate School in Richmond, Virginia.
Jerry Wayne Crafts is a former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League for the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles. He also played in the World League of American Football, XFL, Canadian Football League and Arena Football League. He is the only person to have been involved with teams that played in the championship games of each of the aforementioned Leagues. He played college football at the University of Oklahoma for Barry Switzer and the University of Louisville.
Jamel Ishmael Williams is a former American football safety in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins. He also played in the XFL for the Las Vegas Outlaws. He played college football at the University of Nebraska and was drafted in the fifth round of the 1997 NFL Draft.
Charles Anton Berti, Jr. is a former professional American football player who played offensive lineman for four seasons for the San Diego Chargers. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 1995 NFL Draft. Starting at guard and tackle in 1996 and 1997, Tony was an integral member of the Chargers' offensive line. A shoulder injury during training camp in 1998, put Tony on the IR list for most of the season. With a significant number of starters injured and limited maneuverability under the salary cap, the Chargers reluctantly traded Tony to the play-off bound Seattle Seahawks with only five weeks remaining in the season. In 1999, Tony was one of only two free-agents signed by the two-time Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos. However, another shoulder injury and subsequent surgery during training camp sidelined him again for the 1999 season. Tony signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2000. Days into training camp he abruptly announced his retirement.
Mike Cawley is a former professional American and Canadian football quarterback who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL), NFL Europe and the XFL. He was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 1996 NFL Draft. He played college football at James Madison.

Clements was drafted fifth overall by the Las Vegas Outlaws in the 2001 XFL Draft but, because of a preseason injury, never played for them.
Angel Rubio is a former American football defensive end who played one season with the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 1998 NFL Draft. Rubio played college football at Southeast Missouri State University and attended Ceres High School in Ceres, California. He was also a member of the San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, Orlando Predators, Las Vegas Outlaws, Detroit Fury, Dallas Desperados and Austin Wranglers.
Vincent Wayne Amey is an American football coach and former defensive end, who is currently a defensive analyst at Arizona State. He played college football at Arizona State. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He then played for the Las Vegas Outlaws of the short-lived XFL. In 2019, he was the defensive line coach for the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) before joining the Los Angeles Wildcats of the revived XFL the following year.
Troy T. Dumas is a former American football linebacker and former assistant coach. He played college football at Nebraska. He was drafted in the third round by the Kansas City Chiefs.
