Louis-Pierre Dillais is a French businessman. He acknowledged his involvement with the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior in an interview with New Zealand State broadcaster TVNZ in 2005. [1] [2] Admiral Pierre Lacoste said in 2005 to the New Zealand Herald that Dillais was not part of the "third team". [3] [4] [5]

Life

According to Greenpeace, his father-in-law is former Foreign Minister Jean François-Poncet. In 1994, French Defence Minister François Léotard appointed Dillais as chief of the private office of the Minister of Defence, in charge of military intelligence. Dillais had already "worked for the general secretariat of the 'Defense National', attached to Prime Ministerial Services, in charge of European-Atlantic affairs". [6]

A 1996 account in the Times of London , according to Harper's Magazine , links him to politics- and arms-related money laundering. [7]

He was reported in 2007 as living in Virginia. [8] [9]

In 2012, De Standaard wrote that he is a former agent of the DGSE, while Greenpeace called him a terrorist. [10] [11] De Morgen reported that he was holding a top position in the FN Herstal U.S. operations unit since 2005. [12] [13]

Minister Jean-Claude Marcourt defended Dillais' position as an "internal decision by FN Herstal." [14] and the Rainbow Warrior an "internal French" issue. In response to a parliamentary question by Bert Anciaux about Dillais, minister Joëlle Milquet says she will screen background check measures in a workgroup, aimed at more companies in more sectors. [15]

In 2012, Greenpeace called for his deportation.

The sinking of Rainbow Warrior, codenamed Opération Satanique, was a bombing operation by the "action" branch of the French foreign intelligence services, the Direction générale de la sécurité extérieure (DGSE), carried out on 10 July 1985. During the operation, two operatives sank the flagship of the Greenpeace fleet, Rainbow Warrior, at the Port of Auckland in New Zealand on her way to a protest against a planned French nuclear test in Moruroa. Fernando Pereira, a photographer, drowned on the sinking ship.

Geert Bourgeois Belgian politician for the N-VA

Geert Albert Bourgeois is a Belgian politician of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), which he founded in 2001, who is currently serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. He previously served as the Minister-President of Flanders from 2014 to 2019. Since 2004 De Wever has been the leader of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), a Belgian political party advocating independence for the Flemish region of Belgium within the European Union; he is also a member of the Chamber of Representatives. Rainbow Warrior was a Greenpeace boat active in supporting a number of anti-whaling, anti-seal hunting, anti-nuclear testing and anti-nuclear waste dumping campaigns during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure bombed Rainbow Warrior in the Port of Auckland, New Zealand on 10 July 1985, sinking the ship and killing photographer Fernando Pereira.

Prirazlomnoye field

Prirazlomnoye field is an Arctic offshore oilfield located in the Pechora Sea, south of Novaya Zemlya, Russia, the first commercial offshore oil development in the Russian Arctic sector. The field development is based on the single stationary Prirazlomnaya platform, which is the first Arctic-class ice-resistant oil platform in the world. Commercial drilling was planned to begin in early 2012, however it was delayed at least until the Spring of 2013 due to protester's "safety concerns". Safety concerns have been raised about Prirazlomnoye platform, citing use of decommissioned equipment, however Gazprom's oil spill response plan for Prirazlomnaya was renewed in 2014, and most questions found its answers. The Arctic Prirazlomnoye field produced the 10 millionth barrel of Russian North Arctic Oil in March 2016.

Rainbow Warrior is a purpose-built motor-assisted sailing yacht owned and operated by Greenpeace and intended for use in their activities such as environmental protests and scientific excursions. She was christened on October 14, 2011, and has replaced Rainbow Warrior II after further upgrades and maintenance of the older ship had been shown to be impractical.

The Ha! van Humo is a yearly award offered since 1980 by the Flemish magazine Humo to the best television show of the year. The winner, chosen from 10 nominees, receives 5,000 Euro and a sculpted "H". In the first years, the show has also been given a few times to a TV maker and to a radio show instead of a television show. In 1997 and 2014 there were 2 winners, in 2012 no award was presented.
