Amy Paulette "Amii" Stewart is an American disco and soul singer and dancer most famous for her 1979 U.S. Billboard number 1 hit cover of Eddie Floyd's song "Knock on Wood", an all-time classic of the disco genre. Stewart is the stepsister of actress-singer Miquel Brown and aunt to Brown's actress-singer daughter Sinitta.
Edward Lee Floyd is an American soul-R&B singer and songwriter, best known for his work on the Stax record label in the 1960s and 1970s including the No. 1 R&B hit song "Knock on Wood".
"Knock on Wood" is a 1966 hit song written by Eddie Floyd and Steve Cropper and originally performed by Floyd. The song has become covered by later artists, most notably Amii Stewart in 1979. Stewart's disco version was the most successful on weekly music charts.

The compilation mainly covers material from her early disco career and albums Knock On Wood and Paradise Bird, both from 1979. This compilation was one of the first to use the original versions of Amii Stewart's hits instead of the 1985 remixes from album The Hits, with one exception - the duet "My Guy"/"My Girl" which originally was recorded with Johnny Bristol. Knock on Wood - The Best of Amii Stewart also contains two tracks from 1981's Images/I'm Gonna Get Your Love and finishes with 1985's European hit single "Friends".
The Best Disco Album in the World is a European compilation album released by WEA Records in 1979 comprising many recent disco-orientated hits. In the UK, the album was released in June and charted the following month, reaching No.1 in the albums chart for six consecutive weeks. It was the longest-running No.1 album of the year and was certified platinum by the BPI. In other parts of Europe, the track listing was altered.
