Lovepump United is an independent record label founded in 2004 by Vassar College students Jake Friedman and Mookie Singerman in Poughkeepsie, New York. [1] [2] The label is based in New York City.
The label was ranked #41 by Billboard its national ranking of best indie labels in 2011. [3]
Associated acts of the label include Child Abuse, [4] Health, [5] L.A. hellhole, AIDS Wolf, Deradoorian, [6] and Pictureplane. [7] [8] [9] Many of its acts have been associated with LA venue The Smell. [10]
Friedman and Singerman were the only members of a duo Glitter Pals whose EP was Lovepump's first release; the band has since disbanded. Singerman was also the vocalist for Philadelphia-based "cybergrind" band Genghis Tron whose Cloak of Love EP was the second Lovepump release.
Lovepump first gained prominence in indie music circles following its release of Montreal-based noise rock band AIDS Wolf's debut album January 2006. [11]
Gregory Regis Ginn is an American guitarist, bassist, singer and songwriter, best known for being the leader, primary songwriter, and the only continuous member of the hardcore punk band Black Flag, which he founded and led from 1976 to 1986, and again in 2003. The band announced another reunion in 2013. Since the breakup of Black Flag, Ginn has recorded solo albums, and performed with such bands as October Faction, Gone, Confront James, Mojack, and others. He was 99th on Rolling Stone's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".
Anticon was an independent record label based in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1998 by seven musicians and manager Baillie Parker. It was collectively owned among six musicians, co-founder Parker, and manager Shaun Koplow. The original musicians signed to Anticon were once referred to as the Anticon collective. Following the death of one of its founding members in 2018, the label dissolved.
David P. Madson, better known by his stage name Odd Nosdam, is an American underground hip hop producer, DJ and visual artist. He is co-founder of the record label Anticon. He has remixed tracks by a variety of bands and artists including Boards of Canada, The Notwist, and Sole.
Versus is an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 1990 by vocalist and guitarist Richard Baluyut, bassist Fontaine Toups and drummer Edward Baluyut. Richard Baluyut and Toups remained the two core members throughout the band's history. The band was noted for their marriage of indie pop songwriting and vocal harmonies to the "loud-soft" dynamics of grunge and alternative rock. They were also noted for their proficient and disciplined musicianship and for their credo of "meat, sports, and rock", none of which had much currency in the early 1990s American indie scene. The band was named after the Mission of Burma album Vs.
AIDS Wolf was a Canadian noise rock band, founded in Montreal in 2003, by the graphic arts team of Chloe Lum and Yannick Desranleau, otherwise known as Seripop. They were joined by Myles Broscoe, Chris Taylor, Nick Kuepfer, André Guérette, and Alex Moskos. The band was known for playing modified consumer electronics and analog synthesizers, for giving creative names to instruments, and for being “weird for the sake of being weird.” On their label's band page, they stated "We are a fucking cult and will cause you harm and ill will," then added "The 9 Principles of AIDS Wolf".
Pre, often written as PRE, is a British noise rock band, releasing music on the labels Skin Graft Records and Lovepump United. It is based in London and was formed around 2005. Pre includes former members of Todd and Seafood. Guitar player John Webb is also a member of the noise rock band Male Bonding along with Kevin Hendrick.
Glitter Pals was an American two-piece band formed in 2004 by then-Vassar College students Mookie Singerman and Jake Friedman, their name taking inspiration from the glitter that would remain on their sweat-drenched bodies after their intense lovemaking sessions in their 'glitter box'. Singerman is the vocalist for Philadelphia cybergrind band Genghis Tron. The two members are also the owners/founders of the independent record label Lovepump United, which released their debut EP, Unleash the Compassion in July 2005. The EP was recorded by New York City producer Martin Bisi.
Board Up the House is the second full-length album by the experimental metal band Genghis Tron. The album was recorded and mixed at Godcity Studio from August 29 to September 21, 2007, in Salem, Massachusetts, by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou. It was mastered at New Alliance East by Nick Zampiello. The album was released on February 19, 2008, by Relapse Records on CD and on March 25 by Lovepump United on vinyl.

Travis Egedy, better known by his stage name Pictureplane, is an American electronic musician, visual artist and fashion designer based in Brooklyn, New York. He first appeared in the music scene of Denver, Colorado, making a name for himself at Rhinoceropolis, the DIY space where he also lived. He has been credited for coining the term "witch house". He is also a founder of the fashion brand Alien Body.
Tanlines is an American electronic music and indie rock duo from Brooklyn, New York composed of percussionist Jesse Cohen and guitarist and vocalist Eric Emm. Their influence is drawn from various genres including pop, indie, dance and world music. Child Abuse is a noise rock trio featuring Tim Dahl, Eric Lau, and Oran Canfield (drums) based out of Brooklyn, New York. Originally formed in 2004 as a duo with keyboardist/singer Luke Calzonetti, and drummer Oran Canfield, the group expanded into a trio with the addition of bassist Tim Dahl in the summer of 2005. In 2011, Luke Calzonetti left the band and was replaced by Eric Lau on keyboards. It was during this lineup change that Dahl added vocals in addition to his role as the bassist. Child Abuse has shared bills with many bands including Suicide, Ruins, Arab on Radar, The Locust, Thee Oh Sees, AIDS Wolf, Liturgy, Rhys Chatham and many more. In 2014 Child Abuse joined the Skin Graft Records label for their third album Trouble in Paradise. This same lineup was used for their fourth and most recent album Imaginary Enemy.
Slaughter Beach, Dog is a rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania formed by Jake Ewald in 2014. Initially starting as one of Ewald's solo projects away from Modern Baseball, the group was realized after an indefinite hiatus of Modern Baseball was announced. The line-up originally featured vocalist and guitarist Jake Ewald, bassist Ian Farmer, guitarist Nick Harris from All Dogs, and former Superheaven drummer Zack Robbins.
