Lower Camden County Regional School District

The Lower Camden County Regional School District was a regional public school district serving students in seventh through twelfth grades in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The district served the constituent communities of Berlin Township, Chesilhurst, Clementon, Lindenwold, Pine Hill, Waterford Township and Winslow Township. In a referendum held in May 1998, voters approved the dissolution of the district.^[1]

Edgewood Junior High School and Edgewood Regional High School in Winslow Township, serving Chesilhurst, Waterford Township and Winslow Township
Overbrook Junior High School in Lindenwold, serving Berlin Township, Clementon, Lindenwold, Pine Hill and Winslow Township
Lower Camden County Regional High School / Overbrook Senior High School in Pine Hill, serving Berlin Township, Clementon, Lindenwold and Pine Hill

History

The school district was established in 1938, after a referendum in which Chesilhurst, Clementon, Lindenwold, Pine Hill and Winslow Township voted to join and both Berlin Township and Waterford Township opted out. Lower Camden County Regional High School opened in October 1939, four months earlier than expected, with an enrollment of 700 students, after having been constructed at a cost of $575,000 (equivalent to $12.1 million in 2022), of which $258,000 was covered by a grant from the Public Works Administration. Prior to the school's opening, about a third of students had attended Hammonton High School.^[2] It served students from up to ten municipalities at one point. The population soon began to grow, however, and Edgewood Regional High School (now Winslow Township High School) was founded in Winslow Township. The original school took the name Overbrook Regional Senior High School in the 1950s, and joined its sister school Edgewood as part of the district.

After further expansion of the school district, in 1969 the building was renamed Overbrook Regional Junior High School. Following the dissolution of the district, students from Waterford Township began attending Hammonton High School as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Hammonton Public Schools.^[3] Overbrook High School, part of the Pine Hill Schools, serves students from Pine Hill, with Berlin Township and Clementon participating in sending / receiving relationships. Lindenwold High School opened in September 2001 to serve students from the borough^[4]

As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 21,641, an increase of 4,028 (+22.9%) from the 2010 census count of 17,613, which in turn reflected an increase of 199 (+1.1%) from the 17,414 counted in the 2000 census.

Pine Hill is a borough in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 10,743, an increase of 510 (+5.0%) from the 2010 census count of 10,233, which in turn reflected a decline of 647 (−5.9%) from the 10,880 counted in the 2000 census.

Waterford Township is a township in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 10,421, a decrease of 228 (−2.1%) from the 2010 census count of 10,649, which in turn reflected an increase of 155 (+1.5%) from the 10,494 counted in the 2000 census.

Winslow Township is a township in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 39,907, an increase of 408 (+1.0%) from the 2010 census count of 39,499, which in turn reflected an increase of 4,888 (+14.1%) from the 34,611 counted in the 2000 census.

Overbrook High School is a comprehensive community four-year public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades from Pine Hill, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the Pine Hill Schools. The high school also serves the communities of Berlin Township and Clementon through sending/receiving relationships with their respective school districts. School colors are orange and blue.

The Eastern Camden County Regional High School District is a limited-purpose, regional public school district for students in ninth through twelfth grades from Berlin Borough, Gibbsboro and Voorhees Township, three communities in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

The Hammonton Public Schools are a comprehensive community public school district that serve students in kindergarten through twelfth grade from Hammonton, in Atlantic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

The Winslow Township School District is a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from Winslow Township, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The district operates four elementary schools, two upper elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.

The Pine Hill Schools are a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from Pine Hill, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

The Berlin Township Public Schools are a community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Berlin Township, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

Winslow Township High School (WTHS) is a four-year comprehensive public high school in the Atco section of Winslow Township, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades as the lone secondary school of the Winslow Township School District. Until 2000, the facility that is now Winslow Township High School was part of the Lower Camden County Regional School District and was known as Edgewood Regional High School, which was the sister school of Overbook Regional Senior High School in Pine Hill.

The Waterford Township School District is a community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade from Waterford Township, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

Hammonton High School is a comprehensive community public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Hammonton, in Atlantic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the Hammonton Public Schools.

Edgewood Regional High School is the original name of Winslow Township High School that opened in 1958. Though the mailing address of the school was Atco, the site actually resided in the Tansboro section of Winslow Township, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The school's name changed in 2001 due to the breakup of the Lower Camden County Regional School District (L.C.C.R.H.S.) which consisted of Edgewood and Overbrook Regional High School. The buildings were turned over to the Winslow Township School District and became Winslow Township High School. Likewise Overbrook dropped the "regional" part of its name and became Overbrook High School. At the time of the district dissolution, Edgewood was receiving students from Winslow Township, Waterford Township and Chesilhurst. Waterford Township reached an agreement with Hammonton to send its students to Hammonton High School rather than the newly renamed Winslow Township High School.

Lower Camden County Regional High School was founded in 1939 in Pine Hill, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, as part of the Lower Camden County Regional School District. As the school district grew, Edgewood Regional High School was built in 1958 and Lower Camden County Regional was renamed Overbrook Regional High School.

The Clementon School District is a community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Clementon, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.
