Lucero Soto

Lucero Soto (born 1948), also known as Lucero Soto de Peniche and Lucero Peniche, is a former Mexican badminton player. [1]

She is married to Salvador Peniche, also a former Mexican badminton player.

Sporting achievements

Lucero Soto won the women's singles and the women's doubles events of the Mexican National Badminton Championship in 1964. This year, she also won the Mexican National Open Championship in the women's doubles category as a teammate of Carolina Allier. [1]

In 1966, she obtained two titles, the women’s doubles event, together with Angelina Cazorla, and the mixed doubles, teaming up with Antonio Rangel. This same year, Lucero Soto played together with Carlene Starkey in the Mexican National Open Championship and they won the title of the women's doubles category. [1]

In 1968, Lucero Soto - together with Carolina Allier - won the women's doubles of the Mexican National Open Championship; in addition, Lucero Soto, playing together with Channarong Ratanaseangsuang, won the mixed doubles event. [1]

In 1968 and 1969, Lucero Soto repeated the women's doubles title of the Mexican National Badminton Championship; this time, she competed for the title as a teammate of Carolina Allier. [1]

In 1971 and 1972, Lucero Soto won the women's singles title again; she also succeeded in the women's doubles category together with Susana Zenea in 1972. Besides, Lucero Soto won the women's singles title of the Mexican National Open Championship in 1972.

In 1974, The team Lucero Soto and Susana Zenea repeated the title in the women's doubles event of the Mexican National Badminton Championship.

Tyna Barinaga is a former American badminton player who won national and international titles from the mid-1960s to the early 1970s. In 1964 Barinaga and fellow Port Angeles, Washington resident Caroline Jensen (Hein) became the first all-teenage team to capture the women's doubles title at the U.S. Open Championships. They won the Canadian Open women's doubles the following year. Barinaga shared the mixed doubles title at U.S. Open in 1966, and won both singles and doubles at the same tournament in 1968. Her last full season of competition, 1969–1970, was probably her best. After claiming a number of titles in Great Britain, she won all three events at the U.S Championships and women's singles at the Canadian Open. Barinaga was a member of three U.S. Uber Cup teams, the first of which retained the women's world team championship. She was inducted into the U.S. Badminton Hall of Fame in 2003.

Pam Bristol Brady is an American retired badminton player who excelled at both the national and international levels. Noted for her anticipation and crisp shot-making ability, she won twenty U.S. national titles between 1972 and 1985; four in singles, eleven in women's doubles, and five in mixed doubles. In the three national championships that were open to foreign competition during her badminton prime she reached the final in six of nine events, winning the women's doubles with Diane Hales in 1973. She won South Africa's open singles and women's doubles titles during a U.S. team tour of that country in 1971. She shared both the women's doubles and mixed doubles titles at the first Pan American Championships in 1977. She represented the USA in team matches including the Uber Cup campaigns of '71-'72, '77-'78, and '80-'81. Mrs. Brady was elected to the U.S. Badminton Hall of Fame in 1981. She is married to Danny Brady, a fine player in his own right, with whom she won national mixed doubles titles in 1981 and 1982.
