Lucia Cadotsch Lucia Cadotsch (born 23 February 1984 in Zurich) is a Swiss vocalist, songwriter and composer based in Berlin. She is active in jazz and improvised music and leads several ensembles, including Speak Low, AKI and LIUN + The Science Fiction Band. [1] Her work has been recognized with awards such as the Swiss Music Prize [2] , the German Jazz Award [3] and the ECHO Jazz.
Lucia Cadotsch was born in Zurich, Switzerland. She received early training in classical piano and voice before focusing on jazz singing. She studied jazz singing at the Universität der Künste Berlin and at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen [4] .
From the mid-2000s, Cadotsch became active on the European jazz scene. She gained wider recognition as a member and co-leader of the band Schneeweiss & Rosenrot, which released three albums between 2009 and 2012 and toured internationally. [5]
In 2015, Cadotsch founded the chamber trio Speak Low together with bassist Petter Eldh and saxophonist Otis Sandsjö [6] . The group released several albums between 2016 and 2020 and performed internationally, including appearances at the NYC Winter Jazzfest [7] , the Berlin Philharmonie [8] and the London Jazz Festival [9] .
Since 2021, Cadotsch has led the quartet AKI [10] . The debut album AKI was released in 2023 and received coverage in international jazz media.
Together with saxophonist and producer Wanja Slavin, Cadotsch leads the project LIUN + The Science Fiction Band. The ensemble combines electronic and acoustic elements and has collaborated with larger ensembles such as the hr-Big Band [11] and the EOS Chamber Orchestra [12] .
She has also collaborated with musicians and ensembles including Hayden Chisholm [13] , the Lucerne Jazz Orchestra [14] and Yellow Bird.
Her brother Silvio Cadotsch (born 1985) is a jazz trombonist.
