Lucy Angel is an American country music vocal group from Nashville, Tennessee. The group consists of Kate Anderton (mandolin, vocals) and her two daughters, Lindsay (lead vocals, harmonica) and Emily (guitar, vocals). The group has charted one single, "Crazy Too", on Country Airplay.

Music career

Early years

Kate first entered the world of country music when her husband entered her into a country music talent search show, the Wrangler Country Showdown (which later became the Colgate Country Showdown), which she won. Eldest daughter Lindsay started performing at age four, and by twelve had joined her mother in singing professionally. Originally from Arizona, the family moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2003, [1] where Kate and Lindsay first took on the name Lucy Angel as the name of their duo. [2] Youngest daughter Emily joined her mother and sister on the stage.

2004 - Present

Lucy Angel's first public performance as a trio was opening for Neal McCoy. [3] The group went on to open for headliner acts such as Taylor Swift, Montgomery Gentry and Charlie Daniels. On July 22, 2011, they performed at the Country Thunder Music Festival in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. [4] [5] In 2015, Lucy Angel opened shows for Jake Owen, Kip Moore, Craig Campbell, Chris Janson, Big & Rich, Lauren Alaina, James Otto, A Thousand Horses, LoCash, The Swon Brothers and more. [6]

Apart from touring the United States, Lucy Angel has also performed internationally, visiting Japan, Switzerland, China and the United Kingdom. In 2006, Lucy Angel performed at the 13th Annual Country Sunshine Festival in Kumamoto, Japan. [7] [8] In 2008, Lucy Angel performed at the Schützenhaus Albisgütli in Zurich, Switzerland. [9] [10]

Lucy Angel journeyed to China twice in 2009. The first time was in January when they gained the distinction of being the first American/Western group ever to be invited to perform at the Great Hall of the People in Tiananmen Square, doing so before an audience of dignitaries and government officials. [3] [11] [12] In May 2009, the group was invited back to China for the Zhangjiajie International Country Music Week in the Hunan Province. [13] [14]

The group's first single, "How Long", was issued in 2007.

Lucy Angel released two singles in 2011, "Only Woman Left" and "Serious". "Only Woman Left", their breakout single, peaked at No. 45 on MusicRow’s MusicRow CountryBreakout chart. [3] "Serious", their second single reached No. 31 on MusicRow’s CountryBreakout chart and made it to No. 42 on the Billboard Indicator chart. [15] In addition, they have a holiday special single entitled "Mr. Santa." [15]

Lucy Angel's self-titled debut album was released digitally on January 13, 2015. Lucy Angel released "Crazy Too" to Country radio in May 2015. The single reached No. 51 on the Country Airplay chart. "Crazy Too" was a SiriusXM The Highway, Highway Find in November and December 2014.

In 2017 Lucy Angel released a new single to Country Radio entitled "Public Pool Party", the lead single comes from a forthcoming EP project yet to be released.

In 2019, Lucy Angel appeared as guest artists on the Ronnie Milsap album "The Duets". They were featured on the song "Happy Happy Birthday Baby".

Television

Reality Show

Lucy Angel starred in a 13 episode docu-series, "Discovering Lucy Angel" on AXS TV in the Spring of 2015. The show is set to air internationally in the UK on SHOWBIZ TV beginning February 14, 2016. [16] [17] [18]

HGTV featured the band on the series "Interiors Inc", during which they premiered their song "Cowboy Can." [19]

The Judds were an American country music duo composed of lead vocalist Wynonna Judd and her mother, Naomi Judd. The duo signed to RCA Nashville in 1983 and released six studio albums between then and 1991. The Judds were one of the most successful acts in country music history, winning five Grammy Awards for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, and nine Country Music Association awards. They also charted more than twenty singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including fourteen that went to number one. After eight years as a duo, the Judds disbanded in 1991 after Naomi was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. Wynonna began a highly successful solo career soon after, although she and her mother reunited on multiple occasions.

Lonestar is an American country music group from Texas. The group consists of Drew Womack, Michael Britt, Dean Sams, and Keech Rainwater (drums). Britt, Sams, and Rainwater co-founded the band in 1992 with original lead vocalist Richie McDonald and bass guitarist/vocalist John Rich. Rich exited the band in 1998 and went on to join Big Kenny as one-half of the duo Big & Rich. The Band Perry were an American band composed of siblings Kimberly Perry, Reid Perry, and Neil Perry. They signed to Republic Nashville in August 2009 and released their self-titled debut album on October 12, 2010. From this album, "If I Die Young" reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs and Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks charts and has been certified 6x multi-platinum. Their second album, Pioneer, was released April 2, 2013. It produced additional number one singles in "Better Dig Two" and "Done", plus the top 10 hits "Don't Let Me Be Lonely" and "Chainsaw". The band transitioned to pop in 2017 and began to release music independently in 2018 before officially going on hiatus in 2023. Following this, Kimberly returned to her country roots and launched a solo career.

Margaret Rose Durante is an American soul and country music singer. In 2009, Durante signed to Universal Republic and released a cover of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody". A year later, she left Universal Republic and signed to independent Emrose Records, an imprint that used the services of James Stroud's Stroudavarious Records. She charted two singles for Emrose and released her digital EP, Maybe Tonight. Maggie also recorded two songs that were featured in episodes of the Disney Channel's Shake It Up and Good Luck Charlie television series, and were included on the Shake It Up: Break It Down soundtrack album that was released on July 12, 2011. Durante changed her recording name to Maggie Rose in 2012 after signing with Scott Siman's RPM Management. When Siman expanded RPM to include a mainstream country label, he launched the album with her as the flagship artist with the first single being "I Ain't Your Mama". In 2017, Rose signed to Startruck Records, where she released her 2018 album Change the Whole Thing.

Lauren Alaina Kristine Suddeth is an American singer and songwriter from Rossville, Georgia. She was the runner-up on the tenth season of American Idol. Her debut studio album, Wildflower, was released on October 11, 2011. Her second album, Road Less Traveled, was released January 27, 2017. Alaina later achieved her first number one on the Country Airplay chart with the album's title track. Her second number one came later that year when she simultaneously topped five Billboard charts with her friend and former classmate Kane Brown on their duet "What Ifs". In addition to this song with Brown, Alaina became an in-demand duet vocalist throughout the next few years, appearing on number one collaborations with Hardy, Devin Dawson, and Dustin Lynch.
