Ludo De Witte

Ludo De Witte (born 1956) is a Belgian writer and political activist internationally known for his book The assassination of Lumumba, on the murder of Patrice Lumumba. [1] [2] In his latest work, Als de laatste boom geveld is, eten we ons geld wel op: kapitalisme versus de aarde, De Witte promotes eco-socialism, stating that to save the world from ecocide, it and its people must be freed from the yoke of capitalism. [3] De Witte also advocates a close cooperation between red and green in their mutual anti-capitalistic fight to save the planet from its demise. [4]

Louis Rwagasore was a Burundian prince and politician, who served as the second prime minister of Burundi for two weeks, from 28 September 1961 until his assassination on 13 October 1961. Born to the Ganwa family of Burundian Mwami (king) Mwambutsa IV in Belgian-administered Ruanda-Urundi in 1932, Rwagasore was educated in Burundian Catholic schools before attending university in Belgium. After he returned to Burundi in the mid-1950s he founded a series of cooperatives to economically empower native Burundians and build up his base of political support. The Belgian administration took over the venture, and as a result of the affair his national profile increased and he became a leading figure of the anti-colonial movement.

Andreas Ernestus Josephus Claes was a Belgian author. He is best known for his regional novels, including De Witte ("Whitey"), which was the source material for the first Flemish movie: De Witte (1920). In 1980 it was remade as De Witte van Sichem by Robbe De Hert.

Jaap Kruithof was a Belgian philosopher and writer. His parents were Dutch Protestants. He took degrees in history, law and philosophy in Ghent, and in Paris. Then he earned a Ph.D. on Hegel's ontology, with honours. Since the 1960s he was, along with Etienne Vermeersch and Leo Apostel, one of the icons of the Ghent University and the Flemish intelligentsia in general.
