In 2024, Avila made 20 starts split between the Double–A Northwest Arkansas Naturals and Triple–A Omaha Storm Chasers, compiling a 6–5 record and 4.14 ERA with 85 strikeouts across 87 innings of work. Following the season, the Royals added Avila to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. [7]

Avila was optioned to Triple-A Omaha to begin the 2025 season, [8] where he logged a 2–2 record and 4.67 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 44+13 innings pitched across 10 games (nine starts). On August 11, 2025, Avila was promoted to the major leagues for the first time. [9] On September 10, Avila recorded his first career win, tossing two scoreless innings against the Cleveland Guardians. [10]
