Born in Melbourne, Australia, Luke Parker (born 21 October 1993) is an Australian cyclist currently living in Ormond, Victoria. [1] Representing Australia. he previously competed at the 2011 UCI Junior World Track Championships in Moscow, Russia, where he and the team achieved 4th place in the Team Sprint event. [2] In March 2012, he was the winner of Australia's most prestigious track cycling event, the Austral Wheel Race. [3] In 2014 he was the winner of another prestigious track race, The Melbourne Cup on Wheels (MCOW) and became one of the few to win the Austral and MCOW double.

Personal life

Parker attends Australian Catholic University (ACU) [4] in Melbourne, Victoria and is studying for a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science.[ citation needed ]

Cycling History

In 2006, Parker took up cycling and joined Carnegie Caulfield, his local cycling club. [5] Shortly after, in 2007, he gained entry into The Australian Sports Commission's National Talent ID Program (NTID), designed to foster young talent in cycling.[ citation needed ]

In 2010, he was awarded a VIS scholarship. [1]

The Australian National Road Race Championships, are held annually with an event for each category of bicycle rider: Men, Women & under 23 riders. The event also includes the Australian National Time Trial Championships since 2002. The Australian Championships were officially known as the Scody Australian Open Road Cycling Championships from 1999 to 2010, taking the name of their main sponsor. This changed to the Mars Cycling Australia Road National Championships from 2011 but they are more commonly referred to as The Nationals. The under 23 championships were introduced in 2001. Note that these results do not currently include the senior and junior amateur road race championships that were held prior to the open era.

Luke 'Thomas' Ockerby is an Australian cyclist from Ulverstone, Tasmania. Ockerby has so far won four Australian Junior Championships and many regional and interstate wheel races including the 2008 Devonport men's Wheel Race, 2009 Mersey Wheel Race and the prestigious Austral Wheel Race in 2011 and represented Australia at the 2009 Youth Olympics. Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club is an Australian cycling club based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Established in the early 1900s, it has a long history of road, criterium and track racing. Carnegie-Caufield riders have won multiple cycling premierships at both senior and junior level. Its members have gone on to win multiple national and world championships as well as participate at the Olympics.
