Luke Jonathan Rowe (born 16 September 1991) is a New Zealand footballer who plays in England for the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side Bedworth United, where he plays as a defender.

Playing career

Wellington Phoenix

In June 2012 Rowe was named as one of eight inaugural players to join the Wellington Phoenix academy dubbed the 'Football School of Excellence'. [2] Due to seven Phoenix players being away on international duty Rowe and fellow FSE player Tom Biss where called on to make their debuts in a round 2 away fixture against Melbourne Heart. Despite four players making their debut the Phoenix managed come away with a 1–1 draw. Rowe played a full 90 minutes at left back. [3]

Eastwood Town

Luke Rowe joined Northern Premier League Division One South side Eastwood Town in October 2013, he only went on to make four appearances for the club (two league appearances), before departing in December 2013. [4]

International career

Rowe represented New Zealand at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.

In mid-2012 Rowe was named as one of four players on standby for the New Zealand Olympic Football team competing at the London Olympics. [5]

The 2011–12 A-League was the 35th season of top-flight soccer in Australia, and the seventh season of the Australian A-League soccer competition since its establishment in 2004. The 2013–14 Wellington Phoenix FC season was the club's seventh season since its formation in 2007. It competed in the A-League for the seventh time.

The 2013–14 Brisbane Roar season was Roar's ninth season in the A-League. Having arguably fallen from their mantle of being the best team in the country, the Roar were striving to get back to title winning ways by any means necessary. The failure to qualify for the AFC Champions League was seen as an advantage, allowing the club to focus on domestic competition without the distraction of foreign competition. Manager Mike Mulvey was also looking to make his mark on the club during his first full pre season at the club and prove his credentials to the country in the new season.
