The Lunglei Municipal Council is the municipal body which governs and maintains the town of Lunglei in the Indian state of Mizoram. Lunglei is the second populous urban settlement in the state after the Capital city of Aizawl. [3]
The Municipal Council creation was a long pressing demand of the people of Lunglei. In 2022, Mizoram State cabinet approved creation of Lunglei Municipal Council and on 2023, the council was formed. The state government allocated Rs 80 lakh for the creation of the proposed Lunglei Municipal Council in the 2022-2023 annual budget. [4]
First election to the council was held on 2023, where Zoram People's Movement won all 11 seats against the ruling Mizo National Front. [5]
Mizoram is a state in northeastern India, with Aizawl as its seat of government and largest city. Zoram Nationalist Party is a political party in Mizoram, India. The party was formerly known as Mizo National Front (Nationalist). It was founded by former MP Lalduhoma. MNF(N) was formed in 1997 through a split in the Mizo National Front.
The Mizoram People's Conference is a regional political party in Mizoram, India. It was formed by Brig Thenphunga Sailo on 17 April 1975. Ṭhenphunga was the party chairman and Chief Minister of Mizoram from 1979 to 1984, and an army officer and then a human rights activist before starting his political party.
Lunglei, formerly known as Lungleh, is the second-largest town in Mizoram, northeastern India, situated in the south-central part of the state. The town served as the capital of British South Lushai Hills from 1889 to 1898. It is situated 729 metres above sea level and is situated on a ridge surrounded by hills. Lunglei has an estimated population of 80,000 residents as of 2023.
The Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) is an autonomous council for the Chakma people living in the south-western part of Mizoram, India. The Chakma people has been demanding to change the status of the Chakma Autonomous District Council into a Union territory under the name Chakmaland.
Lalduhoma is an Indian politician who serves as the 6th Chief Minister of Mizoram since 8 December 2023. Formerly an Indian Police Service officer, he resigned from the security service to the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and was elected as Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from Mizoram and President of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee in 1984. He however left the party from which he was elected two years later, for which he was disqualified from the Parliament. He became the first MP in India to be discharged based upon its anti-defection law.

The North-East Democratic Alliance was a political coalition that was formed on May 24, 2016, by Bharatiya Janata Party. The motive of the new political front was to unite non-Congress parties in Northeast India.It merged with Indian National Congress on 10th June 2024. Himanta Biswa Sarma was appointed as the convenor of the front.
The Zoram People's Movement is an alliance of six regional parties formed under the leadership of MLA and former IPS Officer Lalduhoma. The party advocates for secularism and the protection of religious minorities in India. In the 2023 Mizoram Assembly polls, the party won 27 seats out of 40 seats and Lalduhoma became the Chief Minister of Mizoram.

The 2023 Karachi local government elections were held in Karachi, Pakistan on 15 January 2023 to elect members of local councils. These members would then elect the Mayor of Karachi (2023-2027). These elections were the 3rd Karachi local government elections.

K. Sapdanga is an Indian politician and a journalist who is elected as a Member of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly in December 2023 from Aizawl North 3 Assembly constituency. He is a Cabinet Minister under the Zoram People's Movement government led by Lalduhoma, as Chief Minister. with the following portfolios allocated to him - Home Department, Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Department, Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms and Disaster Management & Rehabilitation Department. He is the working president of Zoram People's Movement.
Lalramliana Papuia is an Indian politician from the state of Mizoram. He is currently serving as an MLA from Lunglei South Constituency of Lunglei district in the 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly Elections. He defeated sitting MLA K. Pachhunga by a margin of 1,226 votes.

It was created on July 9, 2018, as an administrative body for the minority Hmar people and encomprises Hmar-dominated regions in the Aizawl, Kolasib and Saitual districts. Its headquarters is in Aizawl.
