History
The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is one of two Lutheran mission churches [4] in Eau Claire, Wisconsin that were developed during the 1950s. In 1953, land for the church was purchased on Cedar Street, on Eau Claire’s west side, and construction of the church began. [5] The first service was held on May 15, 1955, in the original church sanctuary, which later was used for Sunday school education rooms. With 445 members, Good Shepherd was self-supporting by the fall of 1955. Dr. Edwin M. Hegge was installed as the senior pastor on November 27, 1955. In January 1959, a new educational wing was dedicated. In April 1970, the current church sanctuary was dedicated, and by the beginning of 1971 the church had grown to 1,719 members. In spring of 2005, the church built a new gathering area and elevator in commemoration of its 50th anniversary. [6] [7]
In September 1998, land was purchased in order to build a retirement home under the auspices of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Foundation. In October 2001, the Good Shepherd Senior Apartments were dedicated and a new ministry was born. In January 2005, the most recent remodeling and expansion project of the church was celebrated. [8]

It had a population of 69,421 in 2020, making it the state's eighth-most populous city. It is the principal city of the Eau Claire metropolitan area, locally known as the Chippewa Valley, which had 172,007 residents in 2020.

The Eielsen Synod was a Lutheran church body. It was founded in 1846 at Jefferson Prairie Settlement, Wisconsin, by a group of Haugean Lutherans led by Elling Eielsen, the first Norwegian Lutheran minister in the United States.

Duane C. Pederson was an American Lutheran bishop. He served as the Bishop of the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Prior to assuming the role of bishop on August 1, 2007, he served as pastor of congregations in Bozeman, Montana, and Chicago, Illinois, before he became senior pastor at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
St. Paul Lutheran Church is located in central, Davenport, Iowa, United States. It is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The church's original property, which subsequently housed other Protestant congregations, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, but has since been torn down. The present complex was built in 1952 and contains two buildings that are contributing properties in the Vander Veer Park Historic District. The present church building was completed in 2007.

Elizabeth Amy Eaton is the fourth Presiding Bishop, and the first female Presiding Bishop, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She was first elected to this post in 2013 and was re-elected for a second term in 2019. Prior to becoming presiding bishop, she served as bishop of the Northeastern Ohio Synod.

Mount Pisgah Lutheran Church, also known in its early years as the First Lutheran Church and First English Lutheran Church, was located at 701 North Pennsylvania Street in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The historic church was built by the city's first Lutheran congregation, which organized in 1837, and was its third house of worship. The former church building was subsequently operated as a for-profit event venue under the name The Sanctuary on Penn until it was destroyed by a fire on December 24, 2024.
April Ulring Larson is an American retired Lutheran bishop. In 1992, she became the first woman to be elected to serve as a bishop by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church (SSLC) is a historic Lutheran Church at 119 N Church Street in Lexington, South Carolina. The Church is affiliated with the ELCA as a member of the South Carolina Synod. The church holds worship on Sundays at 8:30 AM and 11 AM as well as on Wednesdays at Noon and livestreams each of these services on the church's YouTube Channel. Current pastors are Jason Antley and Ralph Hill. As of the SC Synod's 2020 annual report, St. Stephen's has 1,716 baptized members and 1,100 active participants, which is the most of any ELCA Congregation in South Carolina. The same report also lists the church as having the third highest average online attendance (600) and the fifth highest average in person attendance (209) of churches within the synod, making it one of the largest Lutheran Churches in the state.
