Lyn Harris is a British independent perfumer who created the fragrance lines Miller Harris, [1] and Perfumer H. [2]

Harris grew up in Yorkshire and Scotland. [2] She trained in perfumery with Monique Schlienger in Paris [3] and then worked with Robertet in Grasse. [4] In 2000, Harris created the Miller Harris perfume and candle line with her partner Christophe Michel, [2] and the line became known for fragrances like L'Air de Rien (which Harris originally created as a bespoke fragrance for Jane Birkin), Citron Citron, [5] Tea Tonique, [6] and Rose Silence. [7] London-based private equity fund Neo Capital took a stake in the company in 2012 [8] and in 2014 Harris, though remaining a consultant and shareholder in Miller Harris, [9] turned her focus to a new venture, Perfumer H, which she launched in 2015. Niche perfume is perfume made by companies dedicated primarily to creating perfume, as opposed to perfume from fashion houses or famous people. These companies are generally smaller than the major fragrance firms like Coty Inc., Puig, and Firmenich, but bigger than “indie perfume” lines that are generally owned and operated by the perfumer themselves. Santal 33 Le Labo perfume

Santal 33 is a 2011 sandalwood perfume by niche perfume line Le Labo. It was initially proposed as a personal fragrance by perfumer Frank Voelkl, but Le Labo owners Fabrice Penot and Eddie Roschi cut it from the perfume line for their 2006 launch and asked Voelkl to develop a candle and then a room spray instead, called Santal 26. By 2010 Penot and Roschi acceded to popular demand and asked Voelkl to develop a modified version as a personal perfume, Santal 33, which launched in 2011. Santal 33 quickly gained cult status, then grew into broad popularity, especially after Le Labo sold to Estée Lauder Companies and their fragrances went into much wider distribution. This development drew some disappointment from wearers who had prized its exclusivity.
