Lynda Gammon RCA (born 1949) is a Canadian artist and educator based in Victoria, British Columbia.
Lynda Gammon was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia, and grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. [1] She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and completed her Master of Fine Arts degree at York University (1983). [2] She is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts [3] and is also on the Board of Directors at Open Space. [4] Gammon is currently an associate professor at the University of Victoria in the Visual Arts Department. [5] Gammon established flask in 2004, a project dedicated to distribute and produce book works by artists and writers. [6]
Gammon's work involves a variety of forms and processes, including drawing, assemblage, performance, and installation. Her work explores the similarities and differences of represented and presented spaces. She does so through her use of photography as the embodiment of flat, represented space, while sculpture is the physical, presented space. [7] She explores the interplay between remembered places and photographs of them. [8]
Sophia Theresa "Sophie" Pemberton was a Canadian painter who was British Columbia's first professional woman artist. Despite the social limitations placed on female artists at the time, she made a noteworthy contribution to Canadian art and, in 1899, was the first woman to win the Prix Julian from the Académie Julian for portraiture. Pemberton also was the first artist from British Columbia to receive international acclaim when her work was exhibited at the Royal Academy in London (1897).
Dame Sonia Dawn Boyce is a British Afro-Caribbean artist and educator, living and working in London. She is a Professor of Black Art and Design at University of the Arts London. Boyce's research interests explore art as a social practice and the critical and contextual debates that arise from this area of study. Boyce has been closely collaborating with other artists since 1990 with a focus on collaborative work, frequently involving improvisation and unplanned performative actions on the part of her collaborators. Boyce's work involves a variety of media, such as drawing, print, photography, video, and sound. Her art explores "the relationship between sound and memory, the dynamics of space, and incorporating the spectator". To date, Boyce has taught Fine Art studio practice for more than 30 years in several art colleges across the UK.

James Williamson Galloway Macdonald, commonly known in his professional life as Jock Macdonald, was a member of Painters Eleven, whose goal was to promote abstract art in Canada. Constance "Colette" Joyce Urban was a Canadian/American artist known for performance art, sculpture and installation. Her work questioned social conventions, gender roles, and the relationship between spectator and performer, as well as consumer culture and the everyday with a disarming and humorous tone. Urban was a tenured Professor of Visual Arts at University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada, until 2006, when she relocated to the Bay of Islands, in Western Newfoundland and based herself in the communities of Meadows and McIvers, Newfoundland, to develop Full Tilt Creative Centre, an artist residency, organic farm and exhibition venue. In November 2012, after a lengthy period of mysterious pain, Urban was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. She died at her home in McIvers in 2013.
