Lynn F. Pett (1940-September 17,2017) was mayor of Murray,Utah from 1990-1998. [1] Prior to serving as Mayor,Pett worked in government service for six years as executive assistant to the mayor of Murray. Pett began his career in 1958 and has worked under five Murray mayors and two commissioners. [2] He has also served on the Murray Community Education Program,the University of Utah Recreation and Parks Advisory Board,the Murray Boys and Girls Club Advisory Board and the Murray United Way Board. [3] Pett was born in Eureka,Utah and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Biology. [2]
Mayor Pett began his career with Murray City government starting at age 16,by working in the Parks and Recreation Department. [2] He spent 25 years working as a department head in the parks administration where he oversaw the creation of the Murray swimming pool;establishing several neighborhood parks;developing additions to larger parks such as Jordan River Parkway,Murray City Park and Grant Park;and working on the development of Ken Price Ball Park. [4] In addition,Pett served as Murray's emergency management director in 1983-87 and was responsible for all flood-related programs. [3]
Pett has received numerous awards,including the Murray Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award and recognition from the Boys &Girls Clubs of America in 1988 as "Murray's Leading Citizen." [5] Murray City honored Pett by naming its golf course,Lynn F. Pett Parkway Golf Course. [3]

Murray shares borders with Taylorsville,Holladay,South Salt Lake,Millcreek and West Jordan,Utah. Once teeming with heavy industry,Murray's industry mix has now shifted significantly toward healthcare,retail,and professional,scientific,and technical services. Known for its central location in Salt Lake County,Murray has been called the Hub of Salt Lake County. Unlike most of its neighboring communities,Murray operates its own police,fire,power,water,library,and parks and recreation departments and has its own school district. While maintaining many of its own services,Murray has one of the lowest city tax rates in the state.
South Jordan is a city in south central Salt Lake County,Utah,United States,18 miles (29 km) south of Salt Lake City. Part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area,the city lies in the Salt Lake Valley along the banks of the Jordan River between the 10,000-foot (3,000 m) Oquirrh Mountains and the 11,000-foot (3,400 m) Wasatch Mountains. The city has 3.5 miles (5.6 km) of the Jordan River Parkway that contains fishing ponds,trails,parks,and natural habitats. The Salt Lake County fair grounds and equestrian park,67-acre (27 ha) Oquirrh Lake,and 37 public parks are located inside the city. As of 2020,there were 77,487 people in South Jordan.
West Jordan is a city in Salt Lake County,Utah,United States. It is a suburb of Salt Lake City. According to the 2020 Census,the city had a population of 116,961,placing it as the third most populous in the state. The city occupies the southwest end of the Salt Lake Valley at an elevation of 4,330 feet (1,320 m). Named after the nearby Jordan River,the limits of the city begin on the river's western bank and end in the eastern foothills of the Oquirrh Mountains,where Kennecott Copper Mine,the world's largest man-made excavation,is located.

Soldier Hollow is a cross-country ski venue located at the mouth of a hollow of the same name about 53 miles (85 km) southeast of Salt Lake City in Wasatch Mountain State Park in northwestern Wasatch County,Utah,United States. The venue was created for the 2002 Winter Olympics and hosted the biathlon,cross-country skiing,and the cross country skiing portion of the Nordic combined events,a role it is expected to reprise for the 2034 Winter Olympics.

Jenny Wilson is an American politician currently serving as the mayor of Salt Lake County,Utah. In September 2007,she was a primary candidate for mayor of Salt Lake City,Utah. In 2016,she was Utah's national committeewoman for the Democratic Party. She is the daughter of Ted Wilson,a former mayor of Salt Lake City. Wilson was the Democratic nominee in the 2018 Utah Senate race,running against Republican nominee Mitt Romney. After her election defeat,she was appointed to replace Ben McAdams as Salt Lake County Mayor,taking the oath of office in January 2019. She was elected to that position for a full four-year term in the 2020 general election.
Legacy Parkway is an 11.5-mile-long (18.5 km) four-lane controlled-access parkway located almost completely within Davis County in the northern part of the U.S. state of Utah. The parkway travels north from Interstate 215 (I-215) in northwestern Salt Lake City to an interchange named the Wasatch Weave in Farmington with two intermediate interchanges providing access to Woods Cross and Centerville. Wetlands of the nearby Great Salt Lake and nature preserves border the western side of the parkway while the eastern side roughly parallels Union Pacific and Utah Transit Authority rail lines and I-15. On average,between 20,000 and 23,000 vehicles use the parkway daily.
The Jordan River Parkway is an approximately 40-mile (64 km) urban park that runs along the Jordan River within the U.S. state of Utah. The parkway follows along the river from Utah Lake in Utah County,through Salt Lake County and onto the Great Salt Lake in Davis County. The majority of a mixed-use trail has been completed with a shared-use path for cyclists,skaters,and joggers. A separate equestrian path runs on the southern portion of the trail. Many trail-heads,city and county parks and golf courses are also located along the parkway.
The Red Line is a light rail line on the TRAX system in the Salt Lake Valley of Utah operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). It originally began operation in December 2001 as the peak-hour-only Sandy/University Line,running from the University of Utah south to Sandy Civic Center on the Blue Line. It was later rerouted to South Jordan and renamed the Red Line in August 2011,running as an all-day route. The current line runs from the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City through the south end of Downtown Salt Lake City,South Salt Lake,Murray,Midvale,West Jordan,and South Jordan to the University of Utah's South Jordan Medical Center in Daybreak.
Daniel C. Snarr is a four-time elected mayor of Murray,Utah. Snarr was first elected in 1997 and was re-elected for a fourth consecutive term that began in January 2010 and ended in January 2014. As a former mayor in a Mayor / Council form of government,Murray City employed 396 full- and part-time employees and 487 seasonal employees. Snarr oversaw a budget of $83 million.
Lavar Cook "Mac" McMillan was mayor of Murray,Utah from 1986 to 1990. During his administration,Murray saw the development of several notable business complexes namely the “Sports Mall.”He made national headlines when he was quoted by a reporter,that in the National Basketball Association,“it's getting so the white players don't have a chance…I believe we have to do something.”He was subsequently defeated in his re-election bid by his assistant Lynn Pett.

Daybreak Parkway station is a light rail station in the Daybreak community of South Jordan,Utah,United States,served by the Red Line of the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) TRAX light rail system. The station is the southwestern terminus of the Red Line,which provides service from this station to the University of Utah.
Diane Turner was mayor of Murray,Utah from August 25,2017,to September 19,2017,after the death of Mayor Ted Eyre. Turner's brief term of office was significant as it was the first time that an acting mayor was appointed to office in Murray. Due to her appointment,she also became the first female to ever serve as mayor of Murray.
