Manmatha Nath High School better known as M.N High School, is a co-ed senior secondary Odiah medium school located in Pattamundai in District of Kendrapara, Odisha, India. The courses at high school levels are affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
Conception : The establishment of a High School was first conceived by Late Surendranath Basu Ray, the then Superintendent of the "UTTIKANA" Estate. The Estate was allotted to Late Digambar Mitra in 1859. And his grand son was Late Manmath Nath Mitra. The Superintendent was the man to manage the day-to-day affairs of the estate and was a local resident of Patamundai in those days. The three sons of Late M N Mitra were the zamindars (jointly) of the estate.
Land Acquisition : The local personalities like Late Akuli Mishra of Baktarpur village, Late Gokul Chandra Verma, (Patamundai) and few other personalities had formed a society "Jana Mangala Samiti". After regular meetings and deliberations, they had influenced the Superintendent of the estate to establish the school. But the land was needed for the school. A delegation led by both the personalities had met the then zamindar brothers Late Kiran Kumar mitra, Late Bijay Kumar Mitra and Late Sanat Kumar Mitra to donate a piece of land for the school. And the three brothers also proposed to name the school in the name of their deceased father. And the delegation was happily agreed immediately to name the school as "Manamanth nath high School". But the land was not sufficient. Hence some land was also donated by persons like Late Damodar Tripathy, Late Pranakrishna Giri, Late Kunja Bihari Rout, Late Dinabandhu Choudhury, Late Harekrushna Choudhury and Late Chintamani Choudhury.
Activation : The school came into existence on 13/01/1944 at "Rabindra Medical Hall", presently the "Town Hall", which is adjacent to the present Pokhariapada U P School. The first Headmaster was Late Kanhu Charan Mishra of Baktarpur. The students appeared first High School Certificate Examination in 1947 under the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
The school is on an area of 5.13 acres of land, near Patamundai, on the road connecting Kendrapara and Rajanagar in the eastern part of the city. It is 21 km from the Bhitarkanika National Park,1.5 km from main town. It has adequate number of Classrooms, Library and a Science Laboratory. with a spacious Football field in front of the school. The school is well protected with boundary. It has hostel accommodation also. Once it was functional and more than 50 students were availing the facility.availing the facility.
M.N High School has 21 (Twenty One) teaching staffs and 5 (Five) non teaching staffs. The total student strength in the school is 715. Every year there is an increase of intake strength of students up to 15–25 per batch. The student-teacher ratio is 1:34.
M.N High School has a small well stocked botanical garden and a small sports complex. It attracts students from almost all parts of the district, it is known as best school in Kendrapara district and one of the best school of the state. The school is famous for producing quality students who have successfully established themselves in various government and non-government organisation and consistently working for development of the state.
Students participate in activities that enhances their skill in the field of education. They participate in Odia Debate, Odia Poem Recitation, and many more. NCC and Scouts is also there in the School.
The school has a library of over 3,000 books. It subscribes to over 30 magazines and periodicals of educational and literary nature. Internet access is available to the students in the computer laboratory.

Gourishankar Ray, better known as Karmaveer Gourishankar, a prominent figure amongst the makers of Modern Orissa (Odisha) as well as the savior of Odia (Oriya) language and literature, who led the Save Oriya Movement during the late nineteenth century working relentlessly for the protection and preservation of the Odia language. He was a Bengali from East Bengal from a Zamindar family at a time when an anti Oriya movement rocked the province to replace it by Bengali in the coastal, Hindi in the western and Telegu in the southern Orissa which ultimately was thwarted and Oriya was given its due place.
Surendranath Dwivedy was an Oriya politician, journalist and social worker. Born in Khandasahi in the undivided district of Cuttack on 11 February 1913. He was elected to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Lok Sabha from 1957 to 1970 representing Kendrapara Parliamentary Constituency of Odisha. Earlier, he was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1952 to 1956. He served as a member of Panel of Chairman during Third Lok Sabha and Committee on Public Undertakings from 1964 to 1967. He was also one of the Governors of Khoj Parishad, a socio-economic research institute, from 1948 to 1951. Dwivedy was a member of the Indian delegation to the first session of the Asian Socialist Conference, Rangoon, and to the United States of America. Sri Dwivedy entered into the Parliament in 1952 as the member of the Rajya Sabha and continued in the capacity till 1956.In 1957 he was elected to the Lok Sabha where he continued for the successive terms till 1970.As Crusader against political corruption he made his mark as a great parliamentarian. Even Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the Prime Minister of India had a great regards for Sri Dwivedy and had deputed him to various foreign countries in the delegation with the parliamentarians. It was because of his behement opposition and criticism during China(Sino)Indian War-1962, V.K.Krishna Menon was forced to resign. He was the leader of the Praja Socialist Party in the Parliament from 1962 to 1970. Even after the death of Pt. Nehru he enjoyed the said status and respect as stalwart parliamentarian during the resume of Lal Bahadur Shastri and Mrs Indira Gandhi. His drive against corruption also forced the State Ministry of Odisha headed by Biren Mitra to resign. As a parliamentarian he enjoyed the confidence of all front line leaders like Moraraji Desai, Prof.Madhu Dandavate, Nath Pai, Ram Monohr Lohia, Ashok Mehta, Aruna Saif Ali and many others.
His fame as a Parliamentarian was perhaps the prime consideration for which Sri Chandrasekhar, the Prime Minister of India was obliged to recommend for his appointment as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh in 1991.His speeches in the Parliamentary Debates recorded in the proceedings both the houses of Parliament bear evident testimony to his repute as a strong Parliamentarian.

Sarathi Baba or Srimad Sarathi Dev is a self-proclaimed godman from Odisha, India, currently under investigation for fraud. On 4 August 2015, a TV channel, Prameya News7, ran a report of him being a charlatan. The channel claimed that he had stayed in a luxury hotel in Hyderabad with a young woman. The report also included images of him wearing a T-shirt and jeans. This triggered widespread protests in the state. He was arrested on 8 August 2015. As of September 2015, the state police is investigating various charges against him.

He served as the Vice-Chancellor of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Chairman of Odisha State Planning Board, Chairman of Odisha's First State Finance Commission, Secretary of Odisha State Welfare Board, founder and President of Orissa Economics Association, and the founder Director and Chairman of Nabakrushna Choudhury Centre for Development Studies. He wrote 16 books in English and 20 in Odia. He was also a columnist in several leading Odia journals. He organised several camps across Odisha, for helping the cause of the poor and downtrodden.
Mohammed Afzal-ul Amin popularly known as M.A Amin was an Indian statesman, politician and social worker from Cuttack, Odisha. He served as the general secretary of Utkal Pradesh Congress Committee during Biren Mitra's chief ministership. Afzal-ul was the Vice Chairman of Cuttack Municipality and also the President of Odisha Mohammadan Association. He played a major role in preserving Urdu language in Cuttack by establishing several lower primary and upper primary Urdu schools in the city. He is also credited for organising various nationalist meetings and mobilizing the common masses in Cuttack during the Quit India movement of 1942.
