M. Karpaga Vinayagam (born 16 May 1946) is an Indian judge, Tamil scholar and former Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
Vinayagam was born in 1946 at Devakottai, Tamil Nadu in a family with legal background. He passed B.A. in Economics in 1969 from Alagappa University and got LL.B. degree from the Madras Law College in 1972. [1]
Vinayagam started practice as a Criminal side Advocate in the Madras High Court. He appeared as the Government Counsel in the High Court for seven years consecutively. In 1993 he became the Editor of the Delhi based Law journal Current Criminal Report. Vinayagam was elevated as a Judge in the Madras High Court in 1996. He was appointed the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court on 17 September 2006. Apart from his judicial career Justice Vinayagam has immense knowledge on Classical and ancient Tamil language. He wrote a book on Criminal Law in the Ancient Period. [2] After the retirement, he practiced in the Supreme Court of India as senior advocate. In November 2008 Vinayagam was reappointed in the post of the Chairperson of the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, New Delhi. [3] [4]

Konakuppakatil Gopinathan Balakrishnan is an Indian judge who served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India and later the chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of India. He was the first judge from Kerala to become the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. His tenure lasting more than three years has been one of the longest in the Supreme Court of India. While being Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court, he was appointed as the acting governor of Gujarat from 16 January 1999 to 18 March 1999. In 2010, he was conferred with an honorary doctorate by Cochin University of Science and Technology.

The Central Government has approved the appointment of former Chief Justice of Manipur High Court, Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar as the president of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for a period of five years in October 28, 2021. Justice Sudhakar has been appointed for a period of five years from the date of appointment or till he attains the age of 67 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
