MAN Lion's Chassis is a series of modular chassis made to replace most of MAN's rear-engined low-entry, intercity and coach chassis. It was first introduced at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2008 in Hanover. [1] MAN prospected both two- and tri-axle low-entry, two-axle intercity and two- and tri-axle coach versions. The first of the intercity version appeared in 2008, the two-axle low-entry version in 2009 and both coach versions in 2010. The tri-axle low-entry version may have been abandoned. The models that the Lion's Chassis was set to replace weren't discontinued until the end of 2013. [2] All chassis versions can be delivered as either a rolling chassis with shortened wheelbase for transport or as CIB ("Chassis in the box" — partly assembled kit). [3]
MAN CO 19.xxx is the two-axle 19.7 tonnes GVW coach version replacing the MAN 18.xxx HOCL (R33). Internal codes are RR2 for the normal version and RR3 for the CIB version. It is available as CO 19.350 and CO 19.430 with Euro III engines and CO 19.360, CO 19.400, CO 19.440 and CO 19.480 with Euro IV, EEV and Euro VI engines.
MAN CO 26.xxx is the tri-axle 27.0 tonnes GVW coach version replacing the MAN 24.xxx HOCLN (R37). Internal codes are RR4 for the normal version and RR5 for the CIB version. It is available as CO 26.430 with Euro III engines, CO 26.480 with Euro IV engines and CO 26.360, CO 26.440 and CO 26.480 with EEV and Euro VI engines.
MAN IC 19.xxx is the two-axle 19.5 tonnes GVW intercity version replacing both the MAN SL 18.xxx HOC (A89) and the MAN SÜ xx3 F (A91). Internal codes ar RR8 for the normal version and RR9 for the CIB version. It is available as IC 19.280 with Euro III and Euro IV engines and IC 19.250, IC 19.290, IC 19.320 and IC 19.360 with Euro V and Euro VI engines.
MAN LE 19.xxx is the two-axle 19.5 tonnes GVW low-entry version replacing the MAN 18.xxx HOCL-NL (A69). Internal codes are RC2 for the normal version and RC3 for the CIB version. It is available as LE 19.280 with Euro III engines, LE 19.310 with Euro IV engines and LE 19.250, LE 19.290 and LE 19.320 with Euro V and Euro VI engines.

A midibus is a classification of single-decker minibuses which are generally larger than a traditional minibus but smaller than a full-size single decker and can be anywhere between 8 metres and 11 metres long. While used in many parts of the world, the midibus is perhaps most common in the United Kingdom, where operators have found them more economical, and to have a sufficient number of seats compared to full size single-decker buses.
The Mercedes-Benz OC 500 LE is a modular, heavy-duty, twin-axle bus chassis produced by Mercedes-Benz/EvoBus Ibérica, Spain. It was designed as a modular platform for low-entry city, suburban, and intercity buses with a maximum gross vehicle weight of 19.1 tonnes. The main modules consist of: driver's pedestal, front axle, buggy centre section, drive axle and engine. It has much in common with the chassis used for the Mercedes-Benz Citaro integral bus range, and also the raised floor OC 500 RF coach chassis. The engine is horizontally mounted over the rear overhang.
The Irizar PB is a coach body manufactured by the Irizar Group from 2001 to 2015. It was built upon of the wide range of chassis. It was designed by Arup Design Research in the UK. Its revolutionary styling and features led to the variant with a Scania chassis being named European Coach of the Year 2004.
The Volkswagen Crafter, introduced in 2006, is the largest 3 to 5 ton van produced and sold by the German automaker Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. The Crafter officially replaced the Volkswagen Transporter LT nameplate first launched in 1975, although it is known as the LT3 as its production plant code.
The Volvo B6 was a 5.5-litre (1.2-imperial-gallon) engined midibus chassis manufactured by Volvo between 1991 and 1999. It was also available as the low-entry Volvo B6LE.
The MAN Lion's Coach is an integral coach manufactured by MAN Truck & Bus, and assembled by its subsidiary MANAŞ. Introduced in 1996, the coach was originally intended as a low-cost alternative to the MAN Lion's Star. In July 2020, the coach was awarded "Coach of the Year 2020" at the EMT Awards.
The Scania K series is a series of chassis in Scania's city bus and coach range with longitudinally, straight-up mounted engine at the rear, replacing the K- and L-type (L94) chassis of the 4 series. The K series was first presented on Busworld 2005 in Kortrijk, Belgium, and models were available from 2006.
The Scania 4-series low floor city bus and coach range was introduced by Scania in 1997 as a successor to the 3-series bus range.
The MAN Lion's City is a range of low-floor and low-entry public buses built by German truck and bus manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus since 1996 primarily for the European market, but is also available in chassis-only variants worldwide. The name Lion's City has been used since 2006, when MAN's public bus models which had been marketed separately were gathered into one range, when also most models received a facelift. The first models to be introduced were the 12-metre low-floor intercity bus NÜ xx3 (A20) in 1996, the 12-metre city bus NL xx3 (A21) in 1997 and the articulated NG xx3 (A23) in 1998. As with former MAN bus models the power-rating made up part of the model name, giving the NÜ-series buses with power-ratings of 260 and 310 hp model names NÜ 263 and NÜ 313 respectively. The main production sites are in Starachowice and Sady in Poland, but the models have also been built in Germany, Turkey and Malaysia. Initially most of the midibus variants were manufactured by Göppel Bus in Augsburg, later Nobitz.
MAN Truck & Bus SE is a subsidiary of Traton, and one of the leading international providers of commercial vehicles. Headquartered in Munich, Germany, MAN Truck & Bus produces vans in the range from 3.0 to 5.5 t gvw, trucks in the range from 7.49 to 44 t gvw, heavy goods vehicles up to 250 t road train gvw, bus-chassis, coaches, interurban coaches, and city buses. MAN Truck & Bus also produces diesel and natural-gas engines. The MAN acronym originally stood for Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg AG, formerly MAN AG.
The IVECO Bus Crossway is an urban and intercity bus produced by IVECO Bus since 2006.
The Scania Citywide is a series of integrally-constructed low-floor and low-entry buses manufactured by Scania. It was unveiled in 2011 as the successor to the Scania OmniCity and OmniLink. It consists of two models: the Citywide LF is built on the Scania N-series chassis, whereas the Citywide LE rides on the Scania K-series chassis. They are exclusively available in Europe, except in the UK and Ireland, where Scania chose to rely on Alexander Dennis, Irizar and other local bodywork manufacturers instead. It is assembled at Scania's plant in Słupsk, Poland. It is part of Scania's complete range of buses. The series shares some front styling details with the Touring coach, while most of the design is a simple facelift from its prior models.
Volvo B13R is a 12.8-litre engined coach chassis available as both two- and tri-axle from Volvo since 2009. It was the first of the Volvo BXXR series, replacing the higher output configurations of the B12B. It was later joined by the B11R, which has the same base chassis but a smaller engine. However, because Volvo decided not to upgrade the D13 engine to comply with the Euro 6 emission requirements, it was replaced by the B11R in the European market, but is still available at other markets, like Mexico. The B13R is easy recognisable as being the only modern Volvo coach chassis with air intakes on the right-hand side.
The Volvo B11R is a 10.8-litre engined coach chassis available as both two- and tri-axle from Volvo since 2011. It was introduced as the second of the Volvo BXXR series, replacing the rest of the B12B range in 2011, and later its fellow BXXR platform model, the B13R in 2013.
The Volvo 9700 is a range of coaches manufactured by Volvo. It was introduced in 2001 as a replacement for the Carrus Star and Vector/Regal models. There are three main models in different heights; 9700S, 9700H and 9700HD. The 9700S is only available in the Nordic countries. In addition there is the stripped down 9500 and the 9900 with theater seating. The coaches come in a variety of lengths up to 15 metres, depending on models and markets. Volvo 9700 is currently sold in most of Europe and North America. In 2015, the Volvo 9800 was launched as a replacement for the Mexican market, followed by the double-decker 9800DD in March 2018.
The Volvo B8RLE is a 7.7-litre-engined low-entry bus chassis manufactured by Volvo since 2013 for Euro VI markets. It was designed as a replacement for the B7RLE and the B9RLE. The right-hand drive version was launched in November 2014.
Solaris Urbino 12 is a series of 12.0-metre low-floor buses from the Solaris Urbino series designed for public transport, produced since 1999 by the Polish company Solaris Bus & Coach in Bolechowo near Poznań in Poland. Since 2010 a hybrid version has been produced, with a purely electric version produced from 2013 onwards. It has a length of 12.0 metres, replacing the Neoplan N4016.

They produce many different types of buses, including tourism coaches, urban buses, long-distance buses and minibuses. In addition to this, they also provide specialist buses, such as bullet-proof buses, prisoner-transport vehicles and VIP transport vehicles. The company was founded in 1946 and is jointly owned by Israeli vehicle-importer Mayer Cars and Trucks and by AB Volvo.
