Charlene Ebai-Ebi Egbe (born April 14, 1992) is a Cameroonian-Norwegian mistress of ceremony, events compere, hype queen, fitness instructor and media and entertainment entrepreneur, popularly known as MC Charlene and the Energy Goddess. [1] [2] In 2019 she was unveiled as the MC of the year at the Scandinavia Africa Music Award (SAMA) and she emerged as the Best MC at the Muzikol Music Awards (MUMA) in 2020. [3] She is one of few notable female MCs in Norway. [4]

Career

MC Charlene began her career as a social worker, after obtaining a bachelor's degree in social work from Høgskulen på Vestlandet. She also became a certified chef from Sandsli videregående skole, before founding her sports brand, Sweat Like This Fitness. [5]

In 2016, MC Charlene had her first gig as a Master of Ceremony and in 2022, she signed with Cole Management company, a management firm, renowned for their work with artists like Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Teni, Joeboy, Rema, Bnxn, Fireboy, Tiwa Savage, Mohbad, Naira Marley, Zlatan and Wande Coal. The partnership is for Cole Management Company to provide management, booking and expertise for MC Charlene. [6]

MC Charlene hosts the Afro Energy Back to School Party, in Norway, on her Afro Energy World Entertainment imprint. [7] She has also hosted concerts across Europe and Africa for notable afrobeats artists, including Diamond Platnumz, Olamide, Flavour, Mr P, Fally Ipupa, Kiss Daniel, Stonebwoy, Iyanya, and Tekno. Awards and recognition

In 2019, MC Charlene was unveiled as the MC of The Year at the Scandinavian Afrobeat Music Award (SAMA). [9] In 2020, she emerged as the Best MC at the Muzikol Music Awards (MUMA) in Norway, [10] and in 2021, she was listed in Guardian Nigeria's Top 5 African female MCs. [11]

Afro-soul is a music genre that has African characteristics of soul music. It has emotional vocals, especially of the lead singer. There is a very strong link between Afro-soul and other genres like Afro-Jazz, Amapiano, and Afrobeats.

Port Harcourt, a city of Rivers State located to the south of Nigeria, has a thriving music scene encompassing both native African and foreign-influenced genres. It plays host to numerous radio stations, prominent recording studios, such as the Street Rhymes Studios and other music institutions. As a state capital, Port Harcourt has of one of the liveliest club scenes in the country as well as music venues, bars and restaurants. As of 2015, hip hop, pop, highlife and reggae are most popular music styles among young people in the city.

Sefadzi Abena Amesu better known by her stage name as S3fa is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter. She is an afro-pop / afrobeats musician. S3fa won the Afrobeats Song of the year award during the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with her song E Choke.
