Mulaza Kaira (born 10 October 1984), also known as Macky II, Macky 2, MK Macky 2, DJ Bugar, and Flava Boy, is a Zambian hip hop musician, singer, songwriter, record producer and Actor. [2] [3] He is known for participating in the ninth season of Big Brother Africa , where he placed third in the competition. [4] Kaira is from Chingola, Zambia, and runs the Macky 2 Hope Foundation, which supports orphans and vulnerable children. [5]

Music career

Kaira began showing an interest in music in his childhood after attending the Catholic church in Ndola. [6]

In 2011 he went to Lusaka, where he released his album Ndimupondo under the Digital X label with Alpha Entertainment and J-Kayo. [6] Two songs from the album, "I am The President" and "Number 1 Fan", received radio play and were positively received by audiences. [6] Kaira received the Zambia Music Award for Album of the Year in 2013 for his album Legendary. He has performed and began his career alongside Dalisoul and Dandy Krazy. [7] [8] In 2014 [9] He was nominated in the Zambia Music Awards, in the categories of Best Mainstream Artist, Best Hip Hop/Rap Album and Best Collaboration. [10] [11] As of 2022, Macky 2 marked his retirement from active music with an album OLIJABA [12] released on June 5 and the same date marked his official entry into a reality TV show called KING BUGA which premiered on the same date on Zambezi Magic Channel.

Big Brother Africa 9

Kaira was a contestant on the ninth season of Big Brother Africa ; some viewers stated that he was "too quiet". [13] He survived in the house for the full length of the show and received a substantial amount of support from his fans and Zambians at large. He stayed in the house until the ninth and final week, when he was eliminated in third place. [14] [15]

Kaira is married to Cheelo Hantiinga with whom he has two children. [1]

Amayenge is a popular Zambian music group. Started by Chris Chali in 1978 in Choma, the band was originally called Crossbones, one of many Zambian acts that had sprung up to do gigs based on rock. Later the band became known as the New Crossbones, after a change in direction, sponsorship and management. The musical style of the group is called kalindula, a distinctive Zambian popular style with traditional African roots. Chali died 30 May 2003, but the band has continued with Fraser Chilembo as their leader. Amayenge has received worldwide attention from WOMAD in London to Asia and the Americas. In the words of one author:

Amayenge have dominated Zambia’s music scene for the almost two and half decades by embracing all the 73 tribes of Zambia and making the entire nation feel a part of their unique vibe. They are without a doubt, the most versatile and successful band in the history of Zambian music.

He served as Chairperson of the HIV/AIDS and Social Commentary (HASC) committee of the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) from 2014 to 2017, before being elected to the position of Publicity Secretary in 2018. He is the global ambassador in the fight against HIV/AIDS for American organization AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) and also the first Zambian artist in the world to launch an album at a US Embassy. The event was sponsored by the United States government through the embassy. The stage name B Flow was inspired by people who loved his 'flow'. B Flow also took a new direction with his music, changing his genre to what is now known as “KaliDanceHall”. In November 2016, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) named B Flow as one of the 16 voices of activism against gender-based violence around the world.

Siame O'Brien, better known by his stage names OC Osilliation or OC, is a recording artist and producer from Lusaka, Zambia. He is also the CEO of recording studio Obama Records and Entertainment; which has produced four studio albums. OC has also released several top selling singles, including "Folo Folo", " Wangu ni Wangu", "Wacha Wachema", "Rafiki", and "Last Forever" which continue to be fan favorites and most requested.
