Madison Rowlands is a British freestyle skier. At the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics, she won two medals for Great Britain, including Britain first Winter Youth Olympic Gold medal. She was due to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics, but was injured earlier in the year. [2]

Sarah Burke 20th and 21st-century Canadian freeskier

Sarah Jean Burke was a Canadian freestyle skier who was a pioneer of the superpipe event. She was a five-time Winter X Games gold medallist, and won the world championship in the halfpipe in 2005. She successfully lobbied the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to have the event added to the Olympic program for the 2014 Winter Olympics. She was considered a medal favourite in the event. Burke died following a training accident in Utah in 2012.

Lesley McKenna is a former British professional snowboarder based in Aviemore, Scotland. McKenna has to date competed in three Winter Olympic Games in 2002, 2006 and 2010 but has not won any medals. At the 2010 games, she crashed in both her qualification runs in the women's halfpipe and finished last. She has also competed on the world cup circuit for several years with more success achieving six podium positions including two first placings in 2003. Lesley was also an ambassador for Scotland and after competing worked as the international team manager for the brand Roxy which is the female version of the surf brand Quiksilver. Lesley is now the Team Manager for the GB Park and Pipe Team.

Jemma Louise Simpson is a British athlete who competes in the 800 metres and 1500 metres. She is a former British champion over 800m, winning both 2007, 2009 and 2010 British Championships. She is currently coached by Olympic medallist Mark Rowland.

2016 Winter Youth Olympics 2016 edition of the Winter Youth Olympics

The 2016 Winter Youth Olympics, officially known as the II Winter Youth Olympic Games, took place in and around Lillehammer, Norway, between 12 February and 21 February 2016. They were the fourth Youth Olympic Games and the second winter edition. Lillehammer was awarded the games on 7 December 2011 as the only candidate. The games reused venues from the 1994 Winter Olympics; this made Lillehammer the first city to host both regular and Youth Olympics. In addition to Lillehammer, sports were contested in Hamar, Gjøvik and Øyer.

Park Seung-hi is a former South Korean short track and long track speed skater. She is the 2010 Overall World Champion. She won two gold medals and three bronze medals at 2010 Winter Olympics and 2014 Winter Olympics. Her sister is Park Seung-ju, a long track speed skater, and her brother Park Se-yeong, a short track speed skater. She switched to long-track speed skating after the 2014 Sochi Olympics. After the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics Park announced her retirement from speedskating.

Great Britain at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics

Great Britain competed at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. The British team consisted of 24 athletes competing in 10 different sports.

Brita Sigourney is an American freestyle skier. She attended Santa Catalina School in Monterey, California, and later went on to attend the University of California, Davis, where she played water polo. She trained in her career as a freestyle skier in Park City, Utah. She won a silver medal in the superpipe at Winter X Games XV in 2011, followed with a bronze in 2012. She has competed in both the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics, finishing 6th in 2014. She won a bronze medal in the 2018 Olympics on February 19, 2018, with a score of 91.6, which she achieved on her third run. Up until her third run, the judges expressed to an NBC broadcaster of their approval of her form and amplitude but that she needed improvement with her creativity. She was good friends with her competitor Annalisa Drew and regretted bumping her off the podium. She won another bronze at the 2019 FIS World Championship in halfpipe.

Great Britain at the 2014 Winter Olympics

Great Britain, represented by the British Olympic Association (BOA), competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, from 7 to 23 February 2014. The British team was made up of athletes from the whole United Kingdom including Northern Ireland, whose athletes may have elected to hold Irish citizenship, allowing them to represent either Great Britain or Ireland. Additionally some British overseas territories competed separately from Britain in Olympic competition. A total of 56 athletes competed in 11 sports making it the biggest contingent that Great Britain had sent to a Winter Olympic Games for twenty-six years.

Kaitlyn Brooke Farrington is an American former professional snowboarder who grew up on a cattle ranch near Bellevue, Idaho, and now lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. She won the gold medal in the women's half-pipe competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Prior to her Olympic debut, she competed in the 2010 European Winter X Games and won the gold medal.

Katie Summerhayes is a British freestyle skier. Summerhayes competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics. She has won two medals at FIS World Cup and one medals at FIS World Championships Summerhayes carried the flag at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics.

Ben Ferguson is an American snowboarder from Bend, Oregon. He won the silver medal at the Winter X Games XX and the bronze medal at the Winter X Games XXII. In 2018, he was named to the U.S. Olympic Snowboarding Team for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Isabel Atkin, or Izzy Atkin, is a British-American freestyle skier who competes internationally for Great Britain. She won bronze at women's slopestyle at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, the first British Olympic medal in skiing.
