The Madrid Bravos are an American football team based in Madrid, Spain. The team started play in the 2024 season in the European League of Football (ELF). [1]

Contents

Madrid was announced as expansion city on May 19, 2023. It is thus the second location in Spain next to the Barcelona Dragons, who have been playing in the ELF since 2021. The name and logo of the new franchise were presented on September 26, 2023. [2]

The team is organized by Marlos Sports 2022 SL. General Manager is Jaime Martín Lostao. The teams from the Madrid area in the highest Spanish league LNFA - Las Rozas Black Demons, Madrid Osos Rivas and Coslada Camioneros - announced a cooperation with the new franchise. [3]

Andrew Weidinger is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Madrid Bravos in the European League of Football (ELF). Weidinger joined the Bravos after serving two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Rhein Fire in 2023-2024 and one as head coach of the Barcelona Dragons in 2022. Weidinger won back-to-back championships with the Fire and led the Barcelona Dragons to an 8–4 record and their first ever playoff appearance. Weidinger was named the 2022 ELF Coach of the Year for his work with the Dragons and 2023 ELF Assistant Coach of the Year for his work in Rhein.
