Mahadev Saha (born 5 August 1944) [1] is a Bangladeshi poet. [2] He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2001 and Independence Day Award in 2021 by the government of Bangladesh.

Early life

Born Dhanghara, Sirajganj, 5 August 1944. His father is Gadadhar Saha. His mother is Birajmohini. He is the only child of his parents. He studied at Dhaka College, Bogra College and Rajshahi University. He started his professional career as a Research Fellow in Rajshahi University. His poetic urge began in his adolescent period. His wife is Nila Saha. They have two sons. Tirtha Saha and Saudha Saha. He also has a granddaughter Ritocheta Saha. He owns 130 books. He writes columns in the daily newspapers. The Bangla Academy is an autonomous institution funded by the Bangladesh government to foster the Bengali language, literature and culture, to develop and implement national language policy and to do original research in the Bengali language. Amjad Hossain was a Bangladeshi film director, actor, scriptwriter and lyricist. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director twice, for the films Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978) and Bhat De (1984). He also won Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2004 and Ekushey Padak in 1992.

Amaresh Roy Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi classical vocalist of the Indian sub-continent. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2016 by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to classical music.

Omar Ali was a Bangladeshi poet. He was awarded Ekushey Padak by the Government of Bangladesh in 2017.

Motahar Hossain Talukder, also known as Motahar Master, was a politician from Sirajganj District of Bangladesh. He was posthumously awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2021 by the Government of Bangladesh for his significant contribution to the Bengali language movement.
