Mahajana High School is a school located in Erode, a town in Tamil Nadu, India.
In common with many schools in Tamil Nadu, it has been used as a polling station for general elections. Mahajana High School is also used as a ration card distribution centre. In 2005, parents complained about disruption caused by relocation of classes to the back yard, and by the large crowds of people seeking ration cards which the students found more interesting than their lessons. In 1989 teacher Shri R. Soundara Rajan won a Teachers' Award from the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, one of 49 such awards presented that year. [2]

Mylswamy Annadurai, popularly known as Moon Man of India, is an Indian scientist working as vice president for Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), Chairman, Board of Governors, National Design and Research Forum(NDRF. He was born on 2 July 1958, in a village called Kothavadi near Pollachi in Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu state of India). Prior to taking this assignment he was with Indian Space Research Organisation and served as director, ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bangalore. During his 36 years of service in ISRO, he had some of the major contributions, including two of the major missions of ISRO, namely Chandrayaan-1 and Mangalyaan. Annadurai has been listed among 100 Global thinkers of 2014 and topped the innovators list. His works are mentioned in textbooks of Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education

Diwan Bahadur Rettamalai Srinivasan (1860–1945), commonly known as R. Srinivasan, was a Scheduled Caste activist and politician from then Madras Presidency of British India. He is a Dalit icon and was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi and was also an associate of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. He is remembered today as one of the pioneers of the Scheduled caste movement in India. He founded the Adi dravida mahajana sabha in 1893.
S. D. Subramania Yogi, popularly known as S. D. S. Yogi was a Tamil director, playwright, screenplay writer and poet from Tamil Nadu, India. He was born in a family of poets and published his first collection of poems, while still a student at the Erode Mahajana High School in 1924. He became involved in the Indian Independence Movement and wrote many poems in support of the Indian nationalist cause. He was given the title "Bhala Bharathi" in appreciation of his Tamil literary skills. Among his noted works are Bhavani Kuravanji, a translation of Omar Kayyam's works into Tamil and the life stories of Mary Magdalene and Ahalya. After becoming well known in the field of literature, Yogi started writing scripts for Tamil films. His first film as script writer - Iru Sahodarargal (1936) was a success and the literary magazine Manikodi praised him for his dialogues. He went on to write scripts and song lyrics for a number of Tamil films till the 1950s. He also directed two films - Adrishtam (1939) and Krishnakumar (1941). Yogi translated many of film related English technical terms into Tamil and published a model screenplay using the terms in the magazine Gundoosi.

The 2005 December Chennai stampede incident happened on 18 December 2005 in a school at MGR Nagar in Chennai, the capital of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, where the relief supplies were distributed by the state government for the people affected by severe flooding. There were 42 deaths in the accident, which left another 37 injured. The state government appointed a one-man commission under retired justice A. Raman to look into the enquiry. The state government also announced a compensation of ₹100,000 for all the victims and ₹15,000 for the injured.
