Mahdi Moudini (born Mahdi Moammer; March 14, 1979) is an Iranian illusionist best known for his stage and close-up magic around the world. He has been described as the most commercially demanded magician in Malaysia [1] and expat celebrity. [2] [3] Two of his latest wonder shows were the series of Magical Moudini [4] and levitation along the famous Kuala Lumpur Tower. [5] Moudini currently is the International Magicians Society (IMS) ambassador to Malaysia. [6]

Early years

Mahdi studied magic under the tutelage of his grandfather and father who were both performing magicians in Iran. He began performing magic when he was 5 years old, holding shows in his home city of Karaj.

At the age of 18 he moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as the political situation in Tehran prohibited him in performing live stage magic. He is currently performing extensively in Malaysia and South-east Asia region. [7] [8] In line with Malaysia's mourn and passion for the lost lives of disappeared Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (MH370), he perform an official memorial show in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on 3 April 2014. [9]

Awards

Mahdi has received eight Merlin Award from the International Magicians Society. [10] He received the award of "Best Iranian Stage Magician 2012" [11] for his stage magic performances, "Most Extreme Magician Asia 2013" [12] for his close-up magic involving snakes and fire, "Best Illusionist Malaysia 2014", "Best Show Producer 2015", "Celebrity Magician of the Year 2016", Magician of the Year 2017", "Illusionist of the Year 2018" and most recently "Hollywood Star Illusionist 2019" [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] for his innovative illusions. The McMillan Woods Global Awards 2016 also awarded to him as the Illusionist Extraordinaire of the year. [19]

It was created to help promote and preserve the art of magic and provide a format where magicians could share their secrets and ideas. The society gives a Merlin Award to magicians each year in recognition of their achievements.

John Nevil Maskelyne English stage magician

John Nevil Maskelyne was an English stage magician and inventor of the pay toilet, along with other Victorian-era devices. He worked with magicians George Alfred Cooke and David Devant, and many of his illusions are still performed today. His book Sharps and Flats: A Complete Revelation of the Secrets of Cheating at Games of Chance and Skill is considered a classic overview of card sharp practices.In 1914 he founded the Occult Committee, a group to "investigate claims to supernatural power and to expose fraud".

Brian Rolè

Brian Rolè is an active international Maltese magician and illusionist. He was born on Malta's sister island Gozo in 1972 and became a full-time professional magician in 2000. Currently Brian is one of the most popular magicians in Malta due to his regular grand scale illusion shows and various television appearances. Usually he performs with his partner Lola Palmer under the stage name The Palmers. He is a full member of The Magic Circle and the International Brotherhood of Magicians as well as the Malta Magician's Society IBM Ring 202 the International Society of Magicians and most recently in 2020 the Society of American Magicians.
