MakethisRelate was a Scottish four piece alternative rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. [1] [2] [3] [4]
The band formed in September 2008 whilst studying sound production at Cumbernauld College. After an impromptu jam session in the college studio [5] the band decided to continue playing music together, initially as the backing band to Kevin's solo project at the time. After a year of playing gigs in pubs and youth centres in central Scotland, the band adopted the MakethisRelate moniker and began to work on their debut EP, Pick Your Side. In an interview with Alter The Press! the band stated the transition between Kevin's solo project and performing their own material "was a really natural progression". [6] The band cite Jimmy Eat World and Biffy Clyro as two of their main influences. [5]
MakethisRelate recorded Pick Your Side over the summer of 2009 and released the four track EP on 10 September 2009. The EP's lead single, We'll Always Be Famous, found its way to a producer at 102.5 Clyde 1 who gave the song its first play on national radio. Physical copies of Pick Your Side sold out within a few months and the EP became popular in the Glasgow music scene.
Following the success of Pick Your Side and support slots with Flood of Red, Rolo Tomassi and Ten Second Epic, the band's fan base increased. This led the band to bigger stages including the main stage at the O2 ABC Glasgow and a sold out show in King Tut's Wah Wah Hut with Twenty Twenty. The band described the experience with Twenty Twenty as an eye opening one which shattered many of their illusions of the music industry. [3]
During the summer of 2010, the band began work on their second EP, One More Second Chance. The majority of One More Second Chance was recorded in a church in Motherwell and was of a slightly heavier sound than their first EP. This led to comparisons between One More Second Chance and Blackened Sky by Biffy Clyro. [7] In September 2010, the band headlined the O2 ABC Glasgow and released One More Second Chance. [7] [8] [9] The band went on to support Elliot Minor and completed their first mini tour before the end of 2010.
MakethisRelate spent the beginning of 2011 working on their live show and played a number of gigs around Scotland. They also announced that they would embark on their first UK tour with Birmingham based band, Page 44, in May 2011. [10] Over the summer of 2011, the band was announced as one of eight finalists in the Red Bull Bedroom Jam project and went on to perform at Download Festival, Sonisphere Festival, T in the Park and several other UK festivals. [11] They also supported heavy metal supergroup The Damned Things at their show in The Garage, Glasgow. [12] Guitarist, Dave McErlane, left the band during the festival season, citing personal reasons.
Off the back of their festival appearances, the band released the single, Sugar Glass on 22 August, which was mixed and mastered by Jason Wilson at Stakeout Studios (You Me At Six, We Are The Ocean, Fightstar) and then embarked on a short UK tour. [13] The single received positive reviews from critics [4] [14] and was used by Front Magazine to soundtrack one of their videos. [15]
As of March 2012 the band have announced an extended hiatus during which they will not be recording or performing live. The band reformed in 2013 for a free show in Glasgow on 25 September and shortly after re-entered the studio to work on previously unfinished material, but there has since been no activity from the group.
Biffy Clyro are a Scottish rock band that formed in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, composed of Simon Neil, James Johnston, and Ben Johnston. Currently signed to 14th Floor Records, they have released eight studio albums, five of which reached the top five in the UK Albums Chart, with their sixth studio album, Opposites claiming their first UK No. 1 album. The latest three consecutive studio albums have all peaked at number one in the UK official albums chart. After their first three albums, the band expanded their following significantly in 2007 with the release of their fourth album, Puzzle, creating more mainstream songs with simpler rhythms and distancing themselves from the more unusual dissonant style present in their previous three albums. Puzzle peaked at No. 2 on the official UK album charts on 16 June 2007. The album went platinum in the UK in 2012, having sold over 300,000 copies.

Oceansize were an English rock band from Manchester, formed in 1998. The band consisted of Mike Vennart, Steve Durose, Richard "Gambler" Ingram, Mark Heron (drums) and Jon Ellis for the majority of its career, with Steve Hodson replacing Ellis on bass guitar in 2006.

They have also played at the Glasgowbury Festival and Belsonic.
"Mountains" is a single by Scottish band Biffy Clyro, released on 18 August 2008. Originally released as a non-album single, it would later be included on the band's fifth studio album, Only Revolutions. It was originally entitled "Teeth or Mountains" and was first played live at the Electric Festival in Getafe, Spain, on 30 May 2008.
Twin Atlantic are a Scottish alternative rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. The group currently consists of Sam McTrusty, Ross McNae (bass) and Craig Kneale (drums). Lead guitarist Barry McKenna departed from the band in 2019, but continues to perform with the band at their live shows. They have released five albums: Vivarium, Free, Great Divide, GLA and Power. Their highest charting single is "Heart and Soul" from Great Divide, which peaked at number 17 on the UK Singles Chart. On 2 June 2016, Annie Mac premiered "No Sleep" as the Hottest Record in the World on BBC Radio 1 and announced their new album GLA, subsequently released on 9 September 2016.
"That Golden Rule" is the second single to be taken from Scottish alternative rock trio Biffy Clyro's fifth studio album, Only Revolutions, released on 23 August 2009.
Only Revolutions is the fifth studio album by Scottish alternative rock band Biffy Clyro, released 9 November 2009 on 14th Floor Records. As with its predecessor, Puzzle, the album was produced by Garth Richardson. Upon release, Only Revolutions was a critical and commercial success. The album entered at No. 8 on the UK Album Chart and was then certified gold by the BPI shortly afterwards. It was certified platinum by the BPI in June 2010 for shipments of 300,000 copies in the UK, making it the band's largest selling album. In September 2010, the album achieved a new peak position of No. 3. It was the 26th biggest selling album of 2010 in the UK with sales of 377,900. It was nominated for the 2010 Mercury Prize, which is awarded annually for the best album in the UK or Ireland, and Rock Sound declared it third in its list of the 75 best albums of 2009.
"The Captain" is the third single from Biffy Clyro's fifth studio album, Only Revolutions, released on 26 October 2009. It features a prominent brass section throughout the song. The music video was released on 23 September on NME.com. The B-side "Help Me Be Captain" is an early, more raw sounding, version of the song without brass instruments.
"Many of Horror" is an alternative rock song written by Simon Neil of Scottish band Biffy Clyro for their fifth studio album Only Revolutions. The song was released as the fourth single from the album on 18 January 2010. The song was recorded at Ocean Way Recording, Hollywood, California and mastered at Masterdisk. The lyrics of the song concern Neil's wife and family. Jacknife Lee, who previously remixed "Silhouettes" for the Biffy Clyro and Sucioperro side project Marmaduke Duke, recorded a remix for the song.
"Bubbles" is the fifth single taken from Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro's fifth studio album, Only Revolutions. Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss and Them Crooked Vultures provides additional lead guitar in the song. Despite being one of the lower charting songs from the album, it has spent more weeks in the top 100 than any other Biffy Clyro song.
The Vertigo of Bliss is the second studio album by Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro. Produced with the band by Chris Sheldon, it was released by Beggars Banquet Records on 16 June 2003. The album reached number 48 on the UK Albums Chart, and spawned four singles. A deluxe remastered edition was released in 2012, which featured, in addition to the original 13 album tracks, a number of B-sides from the album's singles.
Opposites is the sixth studio album by Scottish alternative rock band Biffy Clyro, which was released on 28 January 2013. A double album, Opposites was originally announced as a pair of albums, The Land at the End of Our Toes and The Sand at the Core of Our Bones, which later became the names of the individual discs of the album. The album features 20 songs across two discs. There is also a single disc version with 14 selected tracks. As of July 2016, the album has sold 260,720 copies in the UK.
The Family Rain are an English blues rock band, formed in Bath in 2011 by brothers William, Ollie and Timothy Walter. The band released three EPs, several singles and debut album “Under The Volcano”, before splitting up in 2016. The band announced their return in November 2019 via social media.
