Makhi Hughes is an American football running back for the Tulane Green Wave.
Hughes attended Huffman High School in Birmingham, Alabama. During his high school career he had over 2,700 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. He committed to Tulane University to play college football.
Hughes sat out during his freshman season in 2022 due to an injury and was redshirted. He entered his redshirt freshman year at Tulane in 2023 as a backup before earning his first start against Memphis. [1] He kept the starting job for the rest of the season and became the first player in school history to rush for over 1,000 yards as a freshman. Mewelde Jaem Cadere Moore is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL draft. Moore also played with the Pittsburgh Steelers, winning a Super Bowl ring over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII. He played college football for the Tulane Green Wave, just down the road from his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he was a standout performer at Belaire High School.
Matthew Garrett Forte is an American former professional football player who was a running back for ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Tulane Green Wave and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft. Forte established himself as a dual-threat running back capable of earning yards as a rusher and receiver. He is one of only three players to record at least 1,000 rushing yards and 100 receptions in a single season. Forte spent eight seasons with the Bears before playing for the New York Jets for two seasons.

Marshall competed as a member of the East Division of Conference USA, and played their home games at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. The Thundering Herd finished the season 7–6 overall and 4–4 in Conference USA play. They were invited to the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, where they defeated Ohio, 21–17.

The game began at 8:00 p.m. CST and aired on ESPN. It was one of the 2013–14 bowl games that concluded the 2013 FBS football season. Sponsored by freight shipping company R+L Carriers, the game was officially known as the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The Ragin' Cajuns defeated the Green Wave by a score of 24–21.
