The Malaysia Basketball Association (abbreviated as MABA) is the national body for basketball in Malaysia. It consists of 16 affiliated members, including 13 state associations, Federal Territory, Malaysian Armed Forces and Royal Malaysia Police. MABA became a member of FIBA Asia in 1957. Its first elected president was Quek Kai Dong. [1]

The 2010-11 ABL Season was the second season for the Singapore Slingers in the Asean Basketball League Australia. The Slingers went into this season without their 2009-2010 season's local star Hong Wei Jian, who was out with a career-ending knee injury.

The 2014 SEABA Under-18 Championship was the qualifying tournament for Southeast Asia Basketball Association at the 2014 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship. The tournament was the ninth edition and was held in Tawau, in Sabah, Malaysia from May 5 to 7. The top two teams represented SEABA in the 2014 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship.

The Philippines successfully defended its championship for the record twelfth consecutive time. Indonesia settled for the silver medal for the second consecutive time, while Thailand again placed in the podium after winning the bronze medal.

The women's basketball tournament at the 2017 SEA Games was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the MABA Stadium from 20 to 26 August. Host nation Malaysia won their second consecutive and 14th overall gold medal, with Thailand and Indonesia winning the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
