Malaysia Kalai Ulagam Award or acronym known as MUK Award is the Malaysian online award ceremony to pay tribute and award the key industry player within Malaysian Indian community who have been working hard to keep the local entertainment industry of Malaysia alive. [1] This award were presented by online entertainment show, Malaysia Kalai Ulagam. [2] The 2016 awards were held on 25 February. [3]

Shoba Indian actress (1962–1980)

Mahalakshmi Menon, best known by her stagename Shobha, was an Indian actress best known for her work in Malayalam and Tamil films. At the age of 17, she won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the 1979 Tamil film Pasi. She also received three Kerala State Film Awards: for Best Actress (1978), Best Supporting Actress (1977) and Best Child Artist (1971); and two Filmfare Awards South for Best Actress in Kannada (1978) and Tamil (1979) films. Considered one of the finest talents to have emerged in the Indian film world, her promising career was unexpectedly cut short as she committed suicide in 1980, due to unknown reasons. Her popularity resulted in considerable public scrutiny of the events that led to her death and also various conspiracy theories. The 1983 Malayalam film Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flashback is supposedly based on her life and death.

<i>Arinthum Ariyamalum</i> 2005 Indian action drama film

Arinthum Ariyamalum is a 2005 Indian Tamil-language crime action film written and directed by Vishnuvardhan. It stars Navdeep, Prakash Raj, and newcomers Arya and Sameksha in the lead roles, while Adithya, Sangili Murugan, Krishna, and Yog Japee play pivotal roles. The film's music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. "Punnagai Poo" Gheetha, a RJ at a Malaysian radio station THR Raaga, produced the film.

Vishnuvardhan (director) Indian film director

Vishnuvardhan, is an Indian film director who pre-dominantly works in the Tamil film industry. A one-time associate of Santosh Sivan, he made his directorial debut in 2003 with Kurumbu, which did not fare well at the box office. However, his subsequent films, Arinthum Ariyamalum (2005), Pattiyal (2006), Billa (2007), Panjaa (2011) with Pawan kalyan as main lead and Arrambam (2013) went on to become highly successful ventures, turning him into a household name in Tamil Nadu. His debut Hindi film Shershaah (2021) was released on Amazon Prime, got rave reviews.

Anandalok Puraskar or Anandalok Awards ceremony is an award ceremony for Bengali film in India. The Anandalok, only film magazine in Bengali language, published from Ananda Publishers and Ananda Bazar Patrika presents this Award (Puraskar). The magazine was started on 25 January 1975 and the awards (Puraskar) ceremony was started in 1998.

Sujatha (actress) Indian actress

Sujatha was an Indian actress who performed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films, who was best known for restraint and subtlety in portrayal of varied emotions. Sujatha was introduced to the Tamil film industry by veteran director K. Balachander and producer P.R. Govindarajan as a protagonist in Aval Oru Thodar Kathai (1974). She paired with Kamal Haasan in many of her films. She also acted with leading actors N.T.R, Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Ananthnag, Srinath, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Krishnam Raju, Sobhan Babu Krishna, Ajith kumar and Vikram. She died of cardiac arrest in Chennai.

Venniradai Moorthy is an Indian actor and comedian. He has starred in many Tamil films and television serials as a comedian and also played supporting roles. He is a lawyer by education, and holds a B.L. degree in addition to a PhD in astrology. He is married to actress Manimala who played Suhasini's mother in Sindhu Bhairavi and the heroine in Vallavanukku Vallavan (1965). He is also a well known script-writer. Kamal Haasan's first full-fledged film as hero Maalai Sooda Vaa, had Murthy as a script writer.

Sumathi is an Indian actress from Madurai, Tamil Nadu. She started her career at the age of two. She starred in many Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi language films.

Gheetha Ammasee, best known by her stage name "Punnagai Poo" Gheetha, is a Malaysian radio personality, film producer and actress, who works in Malaysia and the Tamil film industry in India. Gheetha gained popularity as a radio jockey at the Malaysian radio station THR Raaga, before launching her own film production studio and venturing into Tamil cinema, becoming recognized as the first female producer from Malaysia. She has also worked as a host at various events and acted in several kollywood films as well as a Malaysian film.

Kerala Film Critics Association Awards Film award of film critics from Kerala, India

The Kerala Film Critics Association Awards are presented annually by the Kerala Film Critics Association to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Malayalam language film industry of India. The awards were instituted in 1977.

The National Film Awards is the most prominent and prestigious award of Nepali cinema. The first National Film Award was held in 2005, in the presence of His Majesty's King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah. The event is held at the residence of the president of Nepal and the president gives the awards to the winners in various categories. It is yearly organised by Film Development Board, Nepal.

<i>Vennira Iravuggal</i> 2014 Malaysian film

Vennira Iravuggal is a 2014 Malaysian Tamil romantic comedy film written, directed and produced by R.Perakas. Starring Vikadakavi Magen in the lead role with Sangeeta Krishnasamy. The film revolves around a journey of love which begins in Malaysia, continues to Singapore and finally ends in Myanmar with one objective, one mission and vision. The film were released on 6 March 2014 at Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar with critical acclaimed by critics. The film was a box office success. The film was later screened in Chennai in 2019.

The Tulu Cinemotsava 2015 is an award ceremony for Tulu films. The awards ceremony has been instituted to honour both artistic and technical excellence in Tulu language Film Industry.

Sangeeta Krishnasamy Malaysian actress and model

Sangeeta Krishnasamy is a Malaysian actress and Model. She did a small role in Kollywood movie after making an appearance in Venkat Prabhu's hit Goa and as the female lead in ZHA among famous South Indian film actors. In 2015 was the female lead for two hit Malaysian Tamil movies Vetti Pasanga & Vennira Iravugal. Vennira Iravugal became an acclaimed Malaysian Tamil movie after it was screened in several film festivals around Europe and winning a special jury award at the Norway Tamil Film Festival in 2014, subsequently taking home all 5 awards in all categories at the Malaysian Kalai Ulagam Awards in 2015. She is among the top actress in Malaysian Tamil Cinema.

Perakas Rajaram is a Malaysian film director, producer, writer and actor. He is well known for directing highly acclaimed Malaysia Tamil filmVennira Iravuggal. He also played a minor role in Jagat.

<i>Vedigundu Pasangge</i> 2018 Malaysian film

Vedigundu Pasangge is a 2018 Tamil language comedy-drama film from Malaysia. It was the final instalment of Pasangge trilogy film series after Vilayaatu Pasange (2011), and Vetti Pasanga (2014). Vimala Perumal directed the movie with an ensemble cast including Sangeeta Krishnasamy, Denes Kumar, David Anthony, and Thangamani Velayuda. Music and background music were scored by composer duo Vivek–Mervin.

Denes Kumar, better known as Denes, is a Malaysian actor, film producer and scriptwriter. He wrote, acted and produced Vedigundu Pasangge that received awards and nominations from national and international film festivals. Denes is a member of the board of directors of National Film Development Corporation Malaysia. He also is a TV host. He co-hosted a travel show called KL To Karaikudi, where he and co-host Nisha Wong travelled through several countries on a motorbike. Denes produced and was the lead actor in horror comedy Vere Vazhi Ille, the first zombie film in Tamil. He is the founder and CEO at Veedu Production Sdn, a film production company in Puchong, Malaysia. In 2015, he was awarded as the Most Popular Artiste and Best Male TV Anchor by Malaysian Kalai Ulagam Awards.
