The Sheffield Shield is the domestic first-class cricket competition of Australia. The tournament is contested between teams from the six states of Australia. Sheffield Shield is named after Lord Sheffield.

Kurtis Robert Patterson is an Australian cricketer who plays for the New South Wales cricket team in the Sheffield Shield,and the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. Patterson scored a century on his first-class cricket debut for New South Wales in November 2011,becoming the youngest batsman to score a century in Sheffield Shield cricket. In January 2019,he made his Test debut for Australia against Sri Lanka,becoming the 457th person to play test cricket for Australia. He made a century in just his second test match in Canberra,also against Sri Lanka. He was not selected for the 2019 Ashes series and returned to play domestically in the 2019/2020 season. He has the highest average of any Test batsman who has lost their wicket at least once.
Joe Matthew Mennie is an Australian professional cricketer. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler for South Australia,the representative team of the South Australian Cricket Association,and in the 2017–18 Big Bash League season he will begin playing for the Melbourne Renegades,his fourth BBL team.

Constantine Anthony Michael is a former Australian cricketer who played three first-class matches for Western Australia. Born in Victoria Park,a suburb of Perth,Western Australia,Michael attended Guildford Grammar School,and represented Western Australia at colts level. He made his first-class debut for Western Australia in a Sheffield Shield match against Victoria during the 1979–80 season. Filling the role of Dennis Lillee,who had been selected for the Australian national team in the Test series against the West Indies,Michael was the third fast bowler in the team,alongside Terry Alderman and Mick Malone,and took 1/14 and 2/20 on debut. He retained his place in the side for the following match against New South Wales,taking 2/39 and 0/54,but was not selected at Sheffield Shield level again.

John Taylor"Jock" Irvine is a former Australian cricketer. He played regularly at Sheffield Shield level for Western Australia,and after scoring 676 runs at an average of 52.00 during the 1968–69 season,was selected for Australia's 1969–70 tour of Ceylon,India,and South Africa. Irvine did not play in any of the Test matches on tour,and played only one further season at state level.

Agar was also a member of the Australian team that won the 2021 T20 World Cup in Dubai and Oman.
The 2014–15 Sheffield Shield season was the 113th season of the Sheffield Shield,the domestic first-class cricket competition of Australia. It was held after the conclusion of the Matador BBQs One-Day Cup and included a break halfway through for the entirety of the Big Bash League. Trials for day/night Tests with the pink ball continued from the previous season. This season introduced a new bonus point system based on the runs scored and wickets taken in the first 100 overs of both teams' first innings. Due to Australia and New Zealand hosting the 2015 Cricket World Cup,several matches in the later rounds could not be held at the usual home grounds of the teams. The final was contested between Victoria and Western Australia. Due to the final of the World Cup being held at the MCG,Victoria,who earned the right to host the final by finishing on top of the ladder,had to choose an alternative ground. They opted for Bellerive Oval in Hobart. The final was drawn,meaning Victoria won their 29th title by finishing on top of the table. Adam Voges was the leading run-scorer and was named man of the series,while Fawad Ahmed took the most wickets of the season. Round 4 was marred by the death of Phillip Hughes on 27 November 2014 after he got hit in the neck by a bouncer two days earlier.
Scott Michael Boland is an Australian international cricketer. A right-arm fast-medium bowler,he also plays domestically for Victoria and the Hobart Hurricanes. In March 2019,he was named the Sheffield Shield Player of the Year by Cricket Australia. Boland is one of a handful of Indigenous Australians to be selected to play for Australia at international level and,as of December 2021,is only the second male Aboriginal player to have played Test cricket for Australia,after Jason Gillespie. Boland was a member of the Australian team that won the 2023 ICC World Test Championship final.
Christopher Peter Tremain is an Australian cricketer who plays for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield and for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
