Male Nilluvavarege is a 2015 Indian Kannada film directed by Mohan Shankar and starring himself. [1] [2] The movie is based on a Kannada play by L.N.Sudheendra which was an adaptation of the 1960 English play The Deadly Game which in turn was based on the 1956 German novel A Dangerous Game by Swiss writer Friedrich Dürrenmatt. The novel had earlier been adapted into 1963 Marathi play Shantata! Court Chalu Aahe by Vijay Tendulkar which was adapted into Marathi movie of the same name in 1971 as well the 2017 Hindi movie Khamosh Adalat Jaari Hai. [3] The novel was also later adapted in Hindi as Chehre (2021) and in Bengali as Anusandhan (2021). [4] [5] [6]

A critic from The Times of India wrote that "It’s a one-man show by Mohan who plays his role to perfection. Dattatreya, Sharath Lohithahwa, Kari Subbu and Srinivasa Prabhu have done their bit". [7] A critic from The Hindu opined that "The audience needs to have lot of patience to watch Male Nilluvavarege , with a tag line Beware of Rain, as it is dialogue driven thriller drama woven around an incident that takes place in one night". [8]

The movie is an adaptation of the 1956 novel A Dangerous Game by Friedrich Dürrenmatt which has earlier been adapted in Marathi as Shantata! Court Chalu Aahe (1971), in Kannada as Male Nilluvavarege (2015) and in Hindi as Chehre (2021). The film was released theatrically on 3 December 2021.
