Malik Shehzad Awan is a Pakistani politician &Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President [1] [2] who had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from August 2018 to August 2023.
In the 2018 Pakistani general election,Malik Shehzad Awan contested the Sindh Assembly seat from PS‑116 (Karachi West‑V) as a Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf candidate. He won the election and became a Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh,assuming office in August 2018. [3]
During his tenure in the Sindh Assembly,Awan represented his constituency in Karachi West. He remained a member of PTI for most of his term and was part of the opposition benches in the Sindh Assembly. His work mainly focused on constituency‑level issues and party activities in Karachi.
In 2021,Malik Shehzad Awan reportedly submitted his resignation from the Sindh Assembly in protest over internal party decisions related to ticket distribution in Karachi by‑elections. [4] [5] The resignation did not immediately take effect,and he continued as an MPA until the completion of the assembly’s term.
In June 2023,following the violent protests that occurred in Pakistan on 9 May 2023,Malik Shehzad Awan publicly announced his decision to leave Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf and to quit active politics. [6] In a press conference,he condemned the attacks on state and military installations and stated that he could no longer remain associated with the party after those events.
His term as an MPA ended in August 2023 with the dissolution of the Sindh Assembly.
Malik Shehzad Awan has been mentioned in news reports in connection with legal cases filed after his tenure as an MPA. [7] [8] He has denied the allegations and maintained that the matters are sub judice.
