Malladi Krishna Rao (born 6 June 1964) is a former member of the Puducherry legislative assembly representing Yanam constituency. He was a former Minister for Health,Tourism,Irrigation,Civil Aviation,Sports &Fisheries,Arts &Culture for the Goverment of Puducherry. [1] He stood twice as an Independent candidate in 1996 and 2001 and twice as an Indian National Congress candidate in the Pudicherry union territory elections. [2] He is the first Yanam citizen to become the minister in Government of Puducherry in 2006.
He was awarded as the Best Member of the Legislative Assembly Award twice from the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Puducherry. Malladi is a key member in Puducherry politics and neighbouring districts of Andhra Pradesh. [3]
Malladi Krishna Rao was born on 6 June 1964 in Darialathippa Village,in the Yanam district in India. He was born in an Agnikula Kshatriya Community and went to school up to 12th Grade.
Malladi Krishna Rao was elected as a member of the Indian National Congress for Yanam in 1996. He held this post until 2021. [4] He acted as Minister of Tourism,Local Administration,Civil Aviation,Rural Development,District &Rural Development in May 2006 and acted as Minister of Revenue,Excise,Fisheries,Tourism,Civil Aviation and Sports &Youth Services in 2008 in the Cabinet of Puducherry. In 2021 he was appointed Special Representative to the Government of Puducherry. [5]
Puducherry,also known as Pondicherry,is a union territory of India,consisting of four small geographically unconnected districts. It was formed out of four territories of former French India,namely Pondichéry,Karikal (Karaikal),Mahéand Yanaon,excluding Chandannagar (Chandernagore),and it is named after the largest district,Puducherry,which was also the capital of French India. Historically known as Pondicherry,the territory changed its official name to Puducherry on 1 October 2006.
Yanam is a town located in the Yanam district in Puducherry. It has a population of 35,000 and is entirely surrounded by Andhra Pradesh. It was formerly a French colony for nearly 200 years,and,though united with India in 1954,is still sometimes known as "French Yanam". It possesses a blend of French culture and the Telugu culture,nicknamed Frelugu. During French rule,the Tuesday market at Yanam was popular among the Telugu people in the Madras Presidency,who visited Yanam to buy foreign and smuggled goods during Yanam People's Festival held in January. After implementation of the Child Marriage Restraint Act,1929 in British India,Telugu people often traveled to Yanam to conduct child marriages,which remained legal under the French administration.
Natesan Krishnasamy Rangasamy is an Indian politician who is the Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry. He previously served as last Chief Minister of Pondicherry from 2001 to 2006 and first Chief Minister of Puducherry from 2006 to 2008 as a member of the Indian National Congress and then from 2011 to 2016 as a member of his own party,the All India N.R. Congress. He holds the record of becoming Chief Minister within three months after creating his own party. He also holds concessive record of becoming Chief Minister of Puducherry for fourth time.

V. Vaithilingam is an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress,who currently represents Puducherry in the Lok Sabha. He held the position as 11th Chief Minister of Pondicherry from 1991 to 1996 and 16th Chief Minister of Puducherry again from 2008 to 2011. He is a senior legislator serving eight consecutive terms.
Kamisetty Sri Parasurama Varaprasada Rao Naidu,popularly known Kamisetty Parasuram Naidu,was an Indian politician who served as the Speaker of Puducherry legislative assembly from 1985 to 1989. It was established by an Act of Parliament in 1985 by the Department of Higher Education,Ministry of Education,Government of India. The Vice President of India is the Chancellor along with the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry acting as the Chief Rector and the President of India is the Visitor of the university. The vast jurisdiction over three Union Territories namely gives the university a national character.
