Black Eyed Peas is an American musical group, consisting of rappers will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and J. Rey Soul. Originally an alternative hip hop group, they subsequently refashioned themselves as a more marketable pop-rap act. Although the group was founded in Los Angeles in 1995, it was not until the release of their third album, Elephunk, in 2003, that they achieved high record sales.

Tony! Toni! Toné! were an American soul/R&B group from Oakland, California, popular during the late 1980s and early to mid-1990s. During the band's heyday, it was composed of D'wayne Wiggins on lead vocals and guitar, his brother Raphael Saadiq on lead vocals and bass, and their cousin Timothy Christian Riley on drums and keyboards. Runt is the self-titled debut album of the band Runt, released June 1970 on Ampex Records. Runt was a trio consisting of Todd Rundgren, Hunt Sales (drums), and Tony Fox Sales (bass). The entire album was written and produced by Rundgren, formerly of Nazz, and he is the only member of Runt to perform on four of the nine cuts. Many regarded Runt as Rundgren's debut solo album, and later reissues credit the album to Rundgren rather than to the group.

Nilsson based the lyrics on his experiences working at a bank and on his parents.
