The Samoa national rugby union team represents the Samoa Rugby Union in men's international rugby union. They are also known as "Manu Samoa", which is thought to derive from the name of a Samoan warrior. They perform a traditional Samoan challenge called the siva tau before each game. Samoa Rugby Union were formerly members of the Pacific Islands Rugby Alliance (PIRA) along with Fiji and Tonga. They are ranked 11th in the world.

Alesana "Alex" Tuilagi is a former Samoan rugby player. He is a retired rugby player, currently residing in Fogapoa Savaii and has appeared numerous times for his national team Samoa. He previously played for Parma in Italy and for Leicester Tigers in the Aviva Premiership and more recently Newcastle Falcons. As an incredibly strong player, Tuilagi uses his blend of pace and power to good effect, proving a nightmare for many defences. Such a combination of speed and strength makes him very difficult for defences to handle.
Maurie Fa'asavalu is a former professional rugby union and rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. He has played representative level rugby union (RU) for Samoa, and at club level for Taula Apia Rugby Union, Harlequins and Oyonnax, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Great Britain and England, and at club level for St. Helens. He was selected for the Great Britain national rugby league team squad in 2007, after living in England for 4 years. He returned to rugby union in October 2010, having signed for Harlequins for the 2010–11 English Premiership season. He then transferred to Oyonnax in France. More recently he has joined West Park St Helens as player/ coach.
Mike Brown is an English professional rugby union player who plays fullback or wing for Leicester Tigers in Premiership Rugby. James So'oialo is a Samoan rugby union player. He currently plays as a fly-half for Horowhenua Kapiti in the Heartland Championship. He made his international debut in 2011 when he was part of the Samoan team at the 2011 Rugby World Cup where he played in one match. Su'a attended Westfields Sports High School in Sydney's South West alongside Tongan International Sitiveni Mafi and the likes of rugby league superstars Jarryd Hayne and Israel Folau. Su'a played his Junior rugby at the Parramatta Two Blues Rugby club and in 2006 played for the Australian Schoolboys. Moving through the age groups Su'a was a member of the Australian U19 team in 2007 and Australian U20 Team in 2008. He currently plays for the Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership and Samoa, and usually plays as a scrum-half. He was part of the Samoan team at the 2011 Rugby World Cup where he played in two matches.He played for Sydney University 1st Grade Colts Under 21’s competition 2008 He made his 1st Grade debut with Penrith Emus 1st Grade in 2009 in the Shute Shield competition, where he played a further 2 seasons for Penrith Emus from 2010-2011 in the Shute Shield competition.
