Manas Robin (born 3 December 1976) is an Indian music director, singer, musician, lyricist, filmmaker, Bihu artist, and music producer from Assam.

Early life

Manas Robin was born to Mr. Rabindra Nath Gogoi and Mrs. Tilabala Dihingia on 3 December 1976. He did his early schooling at 233 No. Nimaijan Prathamik Vidyalaya (primary school). He did his matriculation from Sivasagar Government Higher Secondary School. After that, he went to Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat for further education.

Career

In 1995 his first solo album Niharika under the banner of Music Makers was released. It was followed by Ujan Piriti in 1997 under Typhoon Production, Manas Kanya and Barasha under Saraswati Communications in 1999. He has been the youngest director to score music for an Assamese film in 1999 when he composed music for Priya O’ Priya. He has, since then done music direction for over 20 Assamese feature films.

He has directed music for over 500 music albums in Assamese and other languages of the northeast. He has also produced and directed several VCD films in Assamese, including Jonbai, and directed audio albums for singer Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Zubeen Garg, and many others.

Assamese cinema is the Indian film industry of Assamese language. It is based in Assam, India. The industry was born in 1935 when Jyoti Prasad Agarwala released his movie Joymoti. Since then the Assamese cinema has developed a slow-paced, sensitive style. In the beginning the industry were called Jollywood, for Agarwala's Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio.

Bhabendra Nath Saikia was a novelist, short-story writer, editor and film director from Assam, India. Saikia received his doctorate in physics from the University of London. He began his career as a reader in the Department of Physics, University of Guwahati. He later played an important role in the publication of college level textbooks in the Assamese language during his tenure as the Secretary of the Co-ordination Committee for production of textbooks in regional languages.

She has composed music for films like Akashitorar Kothare, Laaz, Jatra the passage, Basundhara and Abhijatri, among others. Prof Bhabananda Deka was a pioneer Assam economist and author who conducted novel research on the economy of the far eastern part of India. He was also a leading Indian-Assamese litterateur of the famed 'Awahon-Ramdhenu Era' of Assamese literature during the mid-20th century. He was the author of a total of 115 English and Assamese books including textbooks on a range of fifteen subjects including economics, ancient Assamese literature, philosophy, education, religion, mythology, archaeology, tribal study, poetry, drama, memoirs, civics, political science, biographies; he also edited books and journals. Arun Sarma was a writer of Assam. Arun Sarma was one of Assam's contemporary playwrights and is particularly known for his unconventional plays with some elements of drama. Besides drama, he also authored over six novels detailing the Assamese way of life. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2010 in recognition of his contributions to Assamese literature. He has also been awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1998 for the novel Ashirbadar Rong. He has won the Asam Sahitya Sabha's Best Playwright Award for two consecutive years and also has the rare distinction of having won the Sangeet Natak Akademi award in 2003 for his contributions to drama and the Sahitya Akademi award in 1998 for literature. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Borgeet</span> Lyrical songs used to begin prayer services

Borgeets are a collection of lyrical songs that are set to specific ragas but not necessarily to any tala. These songs, composed by Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhavdeva in the 15th-16th centuries, are used to begin prayer services in monasteries, e.g. Satra and Namghar associated with the Ekasarana Dharma; and they also belong to the repertoire of Music of Meghalaya outside the religious context. They are a lyrical strain that express the religious sentiments of the poets reacting to different situations, and differ from other lyrics associated with the Ekasarana Dharma. Munin Barua was an Indian film director in Assamese cinematography. Among his best-known films are Pita-Putro, Prabhati Pokhir Gaan, Hiya Diya Niya, Daag, Nayak and Bidhata. Rajdweep is an Indian screenwriter, playwright, lyricist and journalist hails from Dhing, Nagaon, Assam.
