The East African Community (EAC) is an intergovernmental organisation composed of eight countries in East Africa. The member states are the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republics of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the president of South Sudan, is the current EAC chairman. The organisation was founded in 1967, collapsed in 1977, and was revived on 7th July 2000. The main objective of the EAC was to foster regional economic integration.
The East African Federation is a proposed federal sovereign state consisting of the eight member states of East African Community in the African Great Lakes region – Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Somalia and Uganda. The idea of this federation has existed since the early 1960s but has not yet come to fruition for several reasons. In September 2018, a committee was formed to begin the process of drafting a regional constitution, and a draft constitution for the confederation was set to be written by the end of 2021 with its implementation by 2023. However, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted plans to draft and implement a constitution. On 9 May 2023, the drafting of the constitution resumed with a 20-day consultation with local stakeholders in Kenya.
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning is a government ministry of the Republic of Rwanda; the current Minister of Finance and Economic Planning is Dr. Ndagijimana Uzziel. The Ministry is located in the Nyarugenge district of Kigali, close to the city centre.
Richard Sezibera is a Rwandan medical doctor, diplomat and politician, who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 18 October 2018 until November 4, 2019. He replaced Louise Mushikiwabo. He was replaced by Vincent Biruta on November 4, 2019.
Silas Stanislaus Bernard Lwakabamba or simply SilasLwakabamba, is a Tanzanian engineer, academician and politician. Since May 2021, he has been serving as the Regional Managing Director of Coventry University African Hub, based in Kigali, Rwanda. Lwakabamba holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of Leeds in England since 1975. Since 1997, he served as the founding Rector of Rwanda’s Kigali Institute of Science and Technology. In 2006, he was appointed Rector of National University of Rwanda until 2013. Lwakabamba served as Rwanda's Minister of Infrastructure between February 2013 and July 2014, he also served as Rwanda's Minister of Education since July 2014 until June 2015.
Claver Gatete is a Rwandan politician and diplomat who has been serving as the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa since 2023.
The Kenya–Uganda–Rwanda Petroleum Products Pipeline is a pipeline that carries refined petroleum products from the Kenyan port city of Mombasa to the country's capital of Nairobi and continues to the city of Eldoret in the Eastern Rift Valley. There are plans to extend the pipeline to Uganda's capital, Kampala, continuing on to Rwanda's capital, Kigali.
John Musisi Senyonyi is a Ugandan mathematician, academic, evangelist and academic administrator. He is the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University, a private university that was accredited by the Uganda National Council of Higher Education (UNCHE), in 1997. He was appointed to that position in 2010. Following ten continuous years in that position, he retired, and handed over to Aaron Mushengyezi, in August 2020.

Alexandre Lyambabaje is a Rwandan mathematician, academician and politician. From February 2021 to May 2022, Prof. Lyambabaje served as vice-chancellor of the University of Rwanda. Prior to becoming vice chancellor, Prof. Lyambabaje was the secretary of Inter University Council of East Africa. Prof. Lyambabaje has also held various governmental positions, including minister of commerce and tourism, and serving as the permanent secretary to the minister of education.
Diana Mulili is a Kenyan economist, businesswoman, executive coach and corporate executive. She is the director, Digital Ecosystem for Africa at Prudential Africa. She is based in Nairobi, Kenya's capital city. She took up her current position in February 2022. Before that, she was the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), at Xetova Limited, an e-commerce company, focusing of B2B supply chain issues. Xetova is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Emile Nguza Arao is a Kenyan Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and corporate executive, who was appointed as the next executive director of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), effective 22 April 2022. He will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. Before that, from 20 October 2018 until 22 April 2022, he served as the executive director of the East African Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (EAC-Cassoa), based in Entebbe, Uganda.
Oda Gasinzigwa is a Rwandan civil servant and politician. Born in Tanzania as a refugee, she was educated at the Institute of Development Management in Mzumbe and then worked for eight years at the National Bank of Commerce in Dar es Salaam. When the Rwandan genocide ended in 1994, she moved to Kigali and worked with various ministries to improve women's economic and leadership.
George Gitau, is a Kenyan humanitarian leader. George worked for American Leprosy Missions (ALM) as their regional director for Africa from August 2017 to July 2021. Prior to this appointment, he worked for World Vision International as the Rwanda country director for seven years, from March 2010 to July 2017, while residing in Kigali. George had previously worked for Compassion International for thirteen years in a row in a variety of roles, including director of grants for the Africa region from November 2006 to February 2010, country director for Burkina Faso from December 2003 to August 2006, and country director for Kenya from September 1997 to December 2003.
