The Manchester International Organ Competition was part of the biennial Manchester Festival. The Organ Competition ran from 1978 until 1986.

Contents

1978 - First competition

The First competition was held between 1 and 9 September 1978. The venues were Manchester Town Hall, Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester Cathedral, Birchfields, St. Ann's Church, St. Phillip's Church and Manchester University. [1] The artistic director was Geraint Jones. [1]

1980 - Second competition

The Second competition was held between 9 and 26 July 1980

1982 - Third competition

The third competition was held 6–11 September 1982.

1984 - Fourth competition

1986 - Fifth competition

After 1986 the Manchester International Festival continued biennially, but the organ competition was dropped.

The Cantamus Girls Choir is a choir based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and consists of approximately forty girls aged between thirteen and nineteen. The Manchester International Festival is a biennial international arts festival, with a specific focus on original new work, held in the English city of Manchester. The festival is a biennial event, first taking place in June–July 2007, and subsequently recurring in the summers of 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. MIF17 took place from 29 June to 16 July 2017. The organisation is based in Blackfriars House, adjacent to Blackfriars Bridge but is due to move to a new £110 million new home, The Factory, by the beginning of 2020.

Houmayoun Mahmoudi / Homayoun Mahmoudi born 1966 Tehran, is a British/Iranian Cartoonist, Graphic Artist and Designer. He studied Graphic Design at the University of Tehran and graduated in Animation from the Tarbiat Modares University. Skilled in his own style of Minimal Cartoon, he has his own technique of working on sandpapers. Mahmoudi is married to Nooshin Moradi Fashion Artist, moved to The United Kingdom in 2004 and worked as a freelance Designer and International Artist. He is currently doing PhD research in Art and Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has won numerous International cartoon contests around the world since 1994 and his Artworks are exhibited in The Modern Art Exhibitions globally. In 1998 Graphis magazine interviewed Houmayoun and published his Artworks and between 1999– 2006 he was working with the Ritzenhoff Design company as a member of their artist team.

The 41st Venice Biennale, held in 1984, was an exhibition of international contemporary art, with 33 participating nations. The Venice Biennale takes place biennially in Venice, Italy. No prizes were awarded this year or in any Biennale between 1968 and 1986.
