Mandamus River is a river in the South Island of New Zealand. [1]

The headwaters are on the southern side of the Organ Range and it feeds into the Hurunui River 25 kilometres (16 mi) due west of Culverden. [2]

Later in 1860, the river was named by Julius von Haast during his own expedition; von Haast became the brother-in-law of Lewis' daughter in 1866.
