Manhattan Town Center is a single-level enclosed shopping mall located in downtown Manhattan, Kansas. Opened in 1987, it has three anchors: Dillard's, JCPenney, and the AMC Dine-In Manhattan 13 IMAX movie theater.
On November 15, 2023, the mall was acquired by RockStep Capital. [2]
Early proposals for an enclosed shopping center in Manhattan date back to 1971, when Topeka developer John Haley revealed plans to construct a mall on the southwest edge of Manhattan at the intersection of K-113 and K-18 [3] that would come to be known as the Landmark Mall. [4] Haley encountered pushback from city officials, and the project ultimately failed to materialize. The proposed site of the Landmark Mall was eventually developed as the Seth Child Commons open-air strip center, anchored by Target, in the early 2000s. Meanwhile, the Manhattan City Commission at least acknowledged the possibility of a major shopping mall located downtown when it decided to condemn and demolish a half-block of buildings and replace them with off-street parking. Manhattan Town Center's Dillard's store opened on October 7, 1987 [6] followed by the remainder of the mall, including the second anchor, JCPenney, on October 26, 1987. [7] The third anchor, Sears, was later added to the south end of the mall and opened on September 17, 1990. [8] In 2014, Sears closed amidst the company's widespread financial struggles. [9] The vacant Sears store was demolished and replaced by the Carmike Cinemas Town Center 13 movie theater (with 12 regular screens and one IMAX), which opened in December 2016. [10] It was subsequently renamed following AMC Theatres' acquisition of Carmike.
As of September 2020, Manhattan Town Center's retail tenants include original anchors Dillard's (73,000 sq. ft.) and JCPenney (49,691 sq. ft.) [11] as well as other national retailers including American Eagle Outfitters, Books-A-Million, Buckle, Famous Footwear, Hot Topic, Kay Jewelers, Maurices, Victoria's Secret, and Ulta Beauty. In February 2019, mall officials announced that H&M planned to open an 18,000 sq. ft. store in the mall, the chain's first Kansas location outside of the Kansas City or Wichita areas. [12] The mall property also includes four full-service restaurants: HuHot Mongolian Grill, Applebee's, Chili's, and Texas Roadhouse. In addition to retail, the mall also hosts various community functions including Manhattan High School's prom. [13]
The Dover Mall is a shopping mall located on U.S. Route 13 in Dover, Delaware. The anchor stores are Boscov's, Old Navy, Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenney, and AMC Theatres. There are 2 additional anchor spaces, with one serving as a Macy's fulfillment center since the 2020 holiday season and a vacant anchor spot last occupied by Sears. It is a one-level, enclosed regional mall that is managed by Simon Property Group, who owns 68.1% of it. At 927,414 square feet (86,160 m2), it is the third biggest mall in Delaware, boasting 83 shops and a food court.

Citadel Mall is a regional 1,138,527 square feet (105,773 m2) shopping mall located in Charleston, South Carolina, United States. It opened on July 29, 1981 and is located at the intersection of Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and I-526. The mall features more than 100 stores. On September 1, 2013 the mall went into foreclosure after then owner CBL & Associates Properties defaulted on mortgage payments, and it was purchased at auction by the lender in January 2014. After the auction, the mall was placed under the ownership of a holding company formed by the lender, 2070 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard Holdings LLC and as of January 2017 was under contract to be sold to an undisclosed buyer. The anchor stores are Target, Belk, Dillard's, Mixed Bag Productions, and Medical University of South Carolina.
Crossroads Center is a shopping mall located in Waterloo, Iowa, United States. It was built in 1970 as one of the first malls in Iowa. The mall's sole anchor store is At Home. It has four vacant anchors formerly occupied by Sears, Dillard's, Gordmans, and Younkers. It is owned by Namdar Realty Group. It is located in the heart of a retail hub that includes a 12 screen theater, Best Buy, Super Target, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, and many other national tenants. Stones River Town Centre is a partially enclosed regional shopping mall in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, United States. Built in 1992, it was expanded and renovated in the late 2000s. The mall comprises more than fifty stores. The mall is owned and managed by Sterling Organization. The anchor stores are Shoe Carnival, Books-A-Million, Electronic Express, AMC Theatres, Strike & Spare, JCPenney, and Dillard's.
Independence Mall is the only enclosed shopping mall in Wilmington, North Carolina. It opened in 1979 with anchor stores Belk-Beery, JCPenney, and Sears. A later expansion added a new wing and Dillard's store to the center after Westfield Group purchased the mall. The mall is located on Oleander Drive and Independence Blvd east of downtown Wilmington. The mall has a food court and no longer features a carousel.

Peninsula Town Center is an open air mixed-use development located in the Coliseum Central Business improvement district of Hampton, Virginia in the Hampton Roads region. The Town Center is located on the site of the original Coliseum Mall, an enclosed facility constructed in 1973 by Mall Properties Inc. of New York, its only owner. At 991,000-square feet, Peninsula Town Center is the largest redevelopment project in Hampton's history. Mall Properties has teamed with Steiner + Associates, which developed Easton Town Center in Columbus; Zona Rosa in Kansas City; The Greene Town Center near Dayton; and Bayshore Town Center near Milwaukee to create Peninsula Town Center.
Pembroke Lakes Mall, often referred to as Pines Mall or Pembroke Lakes, is an enclosed shopping mall located in Pembroke Pines, Florida, a suburb of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Located on the intersection of State Road 820 and State Road 823, it is in between Interstate 75 and Florida's Turnpike. Owned and managed by Brookfield Properties, the mall was opened in 1992, and has 1,135,374 square feet (105,479.7 m2) on one floor. As of 2018, Pembroke Lakes is one of South Florida's most popular malls. The anchor stores are Round One Entertainment, AMC Theatres, 2 Dillard's stores, JCPenney, and 2 Macy's stores.
Charleston Town Center is an enclosed shopping mall in downtown Charleston, West Virginia. One of the largest enclosed malls in the United States to be located in a downtown shopping district, it has comprised more than 130 tenants on two levels at its peak, in addition to food court on a partial third level. Several vacancies in later years have led to conversion of large portions into office space. Popular full-service restaurants include Chili's Bar & Grill, the Chop House, Outback Steakhouse and Tidewater Grill. The only remaining anchor store is JCPenney. The mall is owned by Hull Property Group.
