Brandon James Theophilus Jolie, known professionally as Maniac, is a British grime producer. Maniac has produced for various artists such as Wiley, Tinchy Stryder, and Chip. [2] [3] [4]

Career

2006–09

Maniac first came to prominence at the age of 16 when his track "Bow E3" was used by Wiley for his album Playtime Is Over . [5] In 2008 Maniac released a collaborative album with Tinchy Stryder entitled Tinchy Stryder vs. Maniac . This was followed by his first solo CD New Age Grime in 2009. Maniac contributed a number of tracks to the 2008 film Adulthood , recorded a single for a Nike advertising campaign [6] and had his music featured on British soap EastEnders. [7]

In 2009, Maniac was convicted of conspiracy to murder and sentenced to 14-years. He had attempted to murder a 15-year old girl following news that he had impregnated her. He was later given a conditional early release in 2015. [7] [8]

2009–15

Maniac had recorded prolifically and had a large unreleased back catalogue. [9] Tracks from this back catalogue have continued to be released, [10] including the track "Man Dem" which featured on Chipmunk's 2010 platinum selling album I Am Chipmunk and "Liquid Organ" which was used by Wiley on his 2014 album Snakes & Ladders .

2015–present

In 2015, Maniac was released from prison on a conditional licence and returned to making music. His first music release was a single with Wiley entitled "Outchea". [8] In October 2015, Maxsta announced that he would be releasing a collaborative EP with Maniac on Rinse. [11] [12] Maniac produced four tracks for the BrOTHERHOOD film soundtrack, collaborating with Chip, AJ Tracey, P Money and Curtis Clacey.

Jahmaal Noel Fyffe, better known by his stage name Chip, is a British rapper and songwriter from Tottenham, North London. In the past 14 years he has collaborated with the likes of Skepta, T.I., Meek Mill, Young Adz and many others. In 2009, he released his debut album, I Am Chipmunk, featuring four songs which peaked in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart, including the chart-topping "Oopsy Daisy". In 2011, Chipmunk released his follow-up album, the American hip hop-influenced Transition. It included the single "Champion" featuring Chris Brown, which peaked at #2 on the UK Singles Chart.

"Never Leave You" is a song by Tinchy Stryder, released as the fourth single from his second studio album, Catch 22 as a digital download on 2 August 2009 and then as a CD single on 3 August 2009. The song was written by Stryder with lyrics by Taio Cruz and features guest vocals by Amelle, a former member of British girl group the Sugababes. It received airplay on radio stations in the UK including BBC 1Xtra. "Never Leave You" has also reached "The A-List" on the BBC Radio 1 playlist. The music video was released on Stryder's official website on 24 June 2009.

Third Strike is the third solo studio album by recording artist Tinchy Stryder, and his second studio album with Universal Island Records. It was released on 15 November 2010. Prior to the release of Third Strike, Stryder featured on the grime collective Roll Deep's first compilation album, Street Anthems, which was released on 19 October 2009. Third Strike was preceded by a free downloadable extended play (EP), III EP.

Ruff Sqwad are an English grime crew. The group was formed in 2001 in Bow, East London. Various members and affiliates of the crew are considered key figures in the early development of grime music.

"Mainstream Money" is the third and final single from grime vocalist Tinchy Stryder's debut album, Star in the Hood. The single was released in November 2007. The song was written and produced by renowned grime music producer Maniac, who has claimed that the instrumental for the track is the one he is most proud of. The song was also notable for being heard on the BBC soap "EastEnders" several times in late 2007. The track "Sorry, You Are?" was also released as part of the single. It features vocals from fellow rapper Chipmunk, and later featured as a hidden track on Star in the Hood, and also appeared on Cloud 9: The EP.

It was released on 4 November 2011 as a digital download. The song was co-written by Stryder and the production trio TMS, and was co-produced by Calvin Harris and BURNS, in August 2011. Ian Sanusee Koromah, better known by the stage name Maxsta, is an English grime MC from South East London. He is signed Just Jam, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. A fast-paced, choppy style of delivery has led him to be compared to fellow London rapper Dizzee Rascal. He has worked with Tinie Tempah, Chipmunk, and Wiley.
