At the 2021 ISSF World Cup in New Delhi, Sekhon became the first Indian to win a medal in the Women's skeet event of an ISSF World Cup. She is right handed and is right eye dominant. She is part of the Indian shooting team at the Asian Games, Hangzhou, China. She was part of the Indian women's skeet team along with Darshna Rathore and Parinaaz Dhaliwal, that finished fourth in the Asian Games shooting competitions.

Avani Lekhara is an Indian Paralympian and rifle shooter from Rajasthan. As of January 2023, Lekhara is ranked world no. 1 in Women's 10m Air Rifle standing SH1 and has competed in the 2018 Asian Para Games. She has been supported by GoSports Foundation through the Para Champions Programme. She is also the first Indian woman to win multiple medals in a single Paralympic Games. She was part of the Indian women's skeet team, along with Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Ganemat Sekhon that finished fourth in the Asian Games shooting competitions.
