Manjurul Imam was a Bangladeshi lawyer and politician. In 2023, the Government of Bangladesh nominated him for the Ekushey Padak posthumously. [1]

Career

Imam was a lawyer. He was the president of Khulna Metropolitan Awami League and a member of the Central Advisory Council. [2] He was defeated as a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League from Khulna-2 seat in the fifth 1991, seventh 12 June 1996 and eighth national parliamentary elections in 2001. [3]

Manjurul Imam was killed on August 25, 2003, when he was going to the court by rickshaw from his house on Shamsur Rahman Road, Khulna, in a bomb attack. [4] [5]

The 7th March Speech of Bangabandhu, or the 7/3 Speech, was a public speech given by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Founding Father of Bangladesh on 7 March 1971 at the Ramna Race Course in Dhaka to a gathering of over one million (1,000,000) people. It was delivered during a period of escalating tensions between East Pakistan and the powerful political and military establishment of West Pakistan. In the speech, Bangabandhu informally declared the independence of Bangladesh, proclaiming: "The struggle this time, is a struggle for our liberty. The struggle this time, is a struggle for our independence." He announced a civil disobedience movement in the province, calling for "every house to turn into a fortress".

A B M Musa was a Bengali journalist. He was the chief editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS). He was awarded Ekushey Padak for journalism in 1999 by the Government of Bangladesh.

Manik Chandra Saha was a Bangladeshi journalist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak, second highest civilian award of Bangladesh, in 2009 by the Government of Bangladesh.

Humayun Kabir Balu was a Bangladeshi journalist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2009 by the government of Bangladesh.

Begum Rokeya Padak, named after Begum Rokeya, is a Bangladeshi national honour conferred on individual women for their exceptional achievement. Shahadat Chowdhury was a Bangladeshi journalist and editor of several news magazines. He served as the editor of Weekly Bichitra from 1972 until its publication was ceased in 1997. He then served as the editor of Shaptahik 2000 and Anandadhara.

Mirza Tofazzal Hossain Mukul was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the former Member of Parliament of Tangail-5.

Aminul Islam Badsha was a Bangladeshi language movement activist and freedom fighter. In recognition of his contribution in the Bengali Language Movement in 1952, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2020.
