Manon Lammens (born 19 February 1991) is a Belgian female swimmer who competes in the Open water swimming category. [1] [2]
She has competed for Belgium in few international competitions including the 2009 World Aquatics Championships where she took part in the women's 10km open water event finishing 12th out of 45 competitors in the relevant competition. [3]
She also competed at the 2010 FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships and finished on 8th position in the women's 10K category. [4]
Long-distance swimming is distinguished from ordinary swimming in that the distances involved are longer than are typically swum in pool competitions. When a given swim calls more on endurance than on outright speed, it is the more likely to be considered a long-distance swim. Long-distance swims, however, may take place in pools, such as the 1st official 24 hours World Championship in 1976 won by Peppo Biscarini with a record of 83.7 km or the current 25 meter pool world record of 2008 Olympic gold medalist Maarten van der Weijden. Some of the better-known long-distance swims are crossings of the English Channel, Catalina Channel, Fehmarn Belt and Cook Strait.
The FINA World Championships or World Aquatics Championships are the World Championships for aquatics sports: swimming, diving, high diving, open water swimming, artistic swimming, and water polo. They are run by FINA, and all swimming events are contested in a long course (50-metre) pool.

She attended Auburn University in the United States, where she swam for the Auburn Tigers swimming and diving team in collegiate competition. At the 2007 Pan American Games she was part of the bronze medal winning women's 4 × 100 m medley relay alongside Alicia Lightbourne, Nikia Deveaux and Alana Dillette. She is a graduate of swimming powerhouse The Bolles School. She retired from competitive swimming in 2018.
Bronte Campbell is a Malawian-born Australian competitive swimmer, a dual Olympic gold-medal winner and world champion. Her older sister, Cate, is also a competitive swimmer, and once held world records in both the short and long course 100 metre individual freestyle events. Bronte and Cate are the first Australian siblings on the same Olympic swimming team since the 1972 Olympics and the first Australian sisters ever to compete within the same swimming event at the Olympics. Bronte Campbell won three gold medals at the 2015 World Championships, including the 50 and 100 metre freestyle events.
Michelle Coleman is a Swedish competitive swimmer specialized in the sprint freestyle and backstroke events. With her total career haul of 11 medals, she is Australia's most successful Olympian, including one gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and four golds at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. With four gold and three bronze medals she was the most decorated athlete at the 2020 Summer Olympics, and is tied for the most medals won in a single Olympics by a woman.
