Manuel Alejandro Tarrazo Lama (born 1989) is a fashion designer, TV presenter and actor from the Dominican Republic.

He is the son of Ángel Tarrazo Díaz, a Spanish shoemaker from Grado (Asturias), and Afife Gloria Lama Tactuk, the daughter of Julio Lama Handar (whose parents were the founders of Plaza Lama) and Mirtha Tactuk, both born to Lebanese parents.

In 2006, Manuel Tarrazo acted in the film La Tragedia Llenas: Un Código 666, based on actual events, playing the role of José R. Llenas-Aybar, [1] a boy from an upper middle class family who was murdered. [2] [3]

Tarrazo Lama studied fashion design in the Istituto Marangoni, a fashion school at Milan, Italy. [4] Tarrazo designs footwear for both men and women. [5] [6] In 2009, he presented his first collection in the República Dominicana Fashion Week '09. [4]

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in the Dominican Republic do not enjoy the same rights as non-LGBT residents, and face legal and social challenges that are not experienced by other people. While the Dominican Criminal Code does not expressly prohibit same-sex sexual relations or cross-dressing, it also does not address discrimination or harassment on the account of sexual orientation or gender identity, nor does it recognize same-sex unions in any form, whether it be marriage or partnerships. Households headed by same-sex couples are also not eligible for any of the same rights given to opposite-sex married couples, as same-sex marriage is constitutionally banned in the country.

Yamilet Peña Abreu is an elite artistic gymnast from the Dominican Republic who won a gold medal at the 2014 World Challenge Cup and the 2012 Pan American Championship in vault and a bronze medal at the 2012 World Cup. She is known for her execution of the Produnova—a handspring double front on vault. She qualified for the vault finals at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2011 and the 2013 World Championships.
