Pachnoda marginata is a beetle from the subfamily Cetoniinae with a large number of subspecies that lives in west and central Africa. They are sometimes used as food for terrarium animals. The adult beetles are 20–30 mm, the larvae are very small when they hatch, but can grow as long as 60 mm. It is commonly called the sun beetle or Congo chafer beetle.

The type of the genus is the species Schizorhina bouruensis Wallace, 1867. Metallic green in colour, often gaudy decorated with orange. Mesosternal process horizontal and flattened with raised tip. Protibia tridentate with long, tapering teeth grouped together at the tip. Clypeus tucked in, simply sinuate. Pronotum with the basal median lobe only covering the base of the scutellum. The genus is spread throughout the whole Australian region.

The type species of the genus is Cetonia bifasciata Quoy & Gaimard, 1824. These cetoniids have only the tip of the scutellum visible. The genus is widespread throughout the whole Australian region.
